1/48 Morane G. My first attempt in WWI paper modeling

Good evening gentlemen,

I'm new to this forum, this is my first post...

I just discovered EricGoedkoop's modeling, it looked so awesome that I had to give it a try, by following his instructions (Scratchbuilding a Model in Card, Step by Step).
I picked up the plan of the Morane G on the web, scaled it to 1/48th and got started.

Then cut the templates for the side of the fuselage and made two white card copies. (There was no "cream" color left in the shop). I made some pinholes to mark the position for the wings.

Then I made some 1mm wide strips out of brown card...

... and glued them onto the panels.

Then comes the bottom of the fuselage :

Which is then glued to the side panels.

The top of the fuselage is made the same way.

A look at the "wooden" structure :

And a last pic, playing with light...

Second day of building, I added the black fuselage 'corners' and the black / brown panels at the front :

Then I started the scary part : the wires... I used usual sewing thread, as I have no invisible thread (yet). Just used a needle...

I'm not totally sure about which thread goes where, but hey, that's my first...

Once I was done with the threads, I made the seat. I may look a bit funny with the two belts, but according to my plan (It shows the pilot plus a 'transparent' guy sitting just behind him), It seems to me that this seat was capable of carrying two men, so I made two belts...

Then I printed out a couple of clocks, of various sizes so I would just have to pick the right one afterwards.

I made a little control panel next to the clock :

Then came the rudder pedals and the stick, to which I glued the threads.

Last part for today, the top of the fuselage front. I got the outline this way :

Then made one out of black card, with the little 'padding'...

Cockpit completed, except the map which will be added later.

Day 3 :

I made the landing gear undercarriage. I used thread instead of card to do the bungees.

The tailskid, brown, black and grey card.

Then the windshield, for that, I made an exception and used plastic, which I curved a little :

Welcome to the forum, Jerome

I must say that your project looks fantastic. And you say that this is your first attempt at card modeling?! Wow.

I'm curious to see the end result. Keep up the good work.

Regards,

Rick
