From John at Aeroclub regarding pricing etc....

Quote:
Hi
Thanks for your interest. At this time I can't price it as I only received the final test fret yesterday and assembled it last night, I should know tonight.
It does "as advertised" but the battle has been matching brass gauge against etch accuracy and getting friction areas tight enough with tiny screws and nuts and getting as much as I could on a given size of fret.
The jig can be screwed to a base board but I find it works great with my easily removable "Sticky Pads" There will be "Bolt on" kits (ie for Triplanes).

The "savy" modeller with a few bits of K & S brass stock or even Evergreen stock, will be able to customise the basic system to do what ever they want.
I have a wing trestle system in the pipeline.

Cheers

John

" I should be on track to have some jigs ready for the Nats. It's going to
cost in the region of £52 .5o sterling when sold through the trade in UK.
The biggest problem is sourcing suitable nuts and bolts at a reasonable
price. One problem with thumb screws is clearance and also the larger the
dia of screw all the holes and slots get bigger. I came up with the channel
idea myself but again working within a sheet area you lose something else.
Any way it works and it is a tool.
Cheers

John "

Holy cow...52 quid?!! Isn't that something like $4,000 U.S.? Actually spending over $100 in greenbacks on something I can use old paint jars for is a little out of my wallet's range. Still, I wish them all the success in the world. Any new W.W. I modelling product that catches on is a boon for the hobby.

I NOT only want one ! I want to put Aero Club on my watch list and advance order it ! It looks fairly universal. That seems to be a 1/48 scale kit in it in the photo based on the wing span and relative size of the glue and hobby bottles in the background. Sincew 32nd scale planes are barely (really) a little bit bigger I ma not too worried abot it fitting for them. ALthough I actully do hoe it will fit and it looks like it might the revell 1/28 series. I was looking out over the hobby shelfs last nite and I have near a couple of dozen of those to put together.

Funny you guys, laser level, steel, erector sets, Ha HA a little green are we that someone else is so handy to have put it together instead of every crude wooden block and epoxy wing jig you've seen before???

Ross any chance you'd email if more comes out on it and/or better yet and advance one come available ( say NoW ) ?

Jig at Telford - not Dancing, but singing...........

Saw the Man Himself demo the jig at Telford. Really Impressive bit of kit.

Didn't buy one there - wish I had! Aeroclub expect the next batch in a couple of weeks. Price direct from them now around £32ish. Good value if you ask me.

Beats the bejabbers out of my mounting card and copydex.

Wow!

That looks very nice. I've managed to do it by hand and eye with pretty good results, but a good jig would make my pretty good results better. []

I've found some other tips on aligning top wings:

http://www.clubhyper.com/reference/a...iplanegp_1.htm

http://www.wwi-models.org/misc/Tools/index.html

I've come across a good picture at one time or another of a home made jig that used wood, wing nuts, rubber bands, and some sort of stand. I can't find a link to it now, though.

Regards,
