That looks great Brad. The skill and patience you display is obvious. I can't wait to see the full build!

Ross - you are a life saver! Many thanks!!

As I suspected, quite a sparse cockpit... I wonder how the pilot's seat was mounted?

Seat mounting and other details

This is a link to the WW1 modeller's gallery which ross referred to above.
The search engine in the galleries of this site is excellent and good for many hours of perusal. Hope the link works for you

Hi guys,

Well I now have the cockpit nearly completed. It is based on the BE-2 pics provided to me by Ross Moorhouse and others (thanks guys!!), as well as the very few pics in the datafile (but I have also used some artistic liscence here and there!). I still need to add some rigging and the compass which will fit under the control panel.

Firstly, I scratchbuilt the control column, rudder pedals, and linkages to the elevator controls from stretched styrene, wire and foil. I borrowed the control column handle from the Roden SE5 and rigged the throttle on the column using fuse wire. Here is the un-painted result.

Once this was done, I painted the inside of the fuselage and added the various components and rigging. The etched seat was borrowed from an Eduard Sopwith Camel kit (having built one of these kits before I know the seat cannot be seen - plus Eduard supply another simpler seat in the kit so I wasn't too worried). The seat belts were taken from an Eduard etched R.F.C Seatbelts set, and the instruments taken from an Eduard WW1 Instruments set. The rigging is elastic. Here's some pics:

And lastly a close up of the scrachbuilt instrument panel.

All feedback welcome!

Thumbs up

Amazing.... Is all I can say. Makes what I have done with my Be12a so far look really sad.
