Albatros DIII color reference
Hello fellows,
I'm just about to start building the Roden Albatros DIII. One of the options is Von Richthofen machine. Does anybody know the appropriate colors for the upper wing camouflage light green, matt green and tan in either Gunze Sangyo or Testors Model Master Acrylics??
Thank for your help
Flanker

I'm having the same problem. In the instructions in the Eduard kit says green,gray-green and brown . That really doesn't tell you that much

Hi s1b,
You can check the misterkitusa site and yo will find the information you need under the German colors. By the way Mike Taylor has provide me a lot of help and I'm sure you can get the Misterkit colors easily since you are in FL too.

Are you going with the two or three upper surface colour scheme?

I'm actually doing both schemes, one three tone for an Albatros DIII and one two tone for an Albatros DII. Any recommendation??
Thanks

Alb.D.II and D.III camouflage colors.
Flanker:
Albatros Werke Alb.D.II upper fabric surface camouflage colors were, dark green, pale green and rust brown. The fabric under surfaces were sky blue.
The camouflage patterns were assymetrical.
OAW built Alb.D.II upper fabric colors were: deep green, light green, burnt sienna. The fabric under surface was pale blue. The camouflage patterns were symetrical.
LVG built Alb.D.II fabric upper surface colors were: Dull green, pale green and chestnut brown. The fabric under surfaces were: pale green. The camouflage patterns were more symetrical.
Albatros built Alb.D.III colors were the same as the D.II. The camouflage patterns were assymetrical.
Albatros built Alb.D.III in 1917 upper fabric colors were:
Dark green and pale green. The lower surface fabric color was sky blue. The camouflage patterns was assymetrical.
OAW built Alb.D.III which used a painted camouflage used the same colors as the OAW built Alb.D.II aircraft. As like the Alb.D.II(OAW) the camouflage pattern was symetrical.
Blue skies,
Dan-San

Dan San, if you please, I'm attempting the Sanger '24 DV/Va, and the instructions call for the muave-green camo on some and lozenge on others. Is there a separation point in the serial No.'s that stops the painted camo into the lozenge fabric? I don't have any references for the Alb. fighters as I'm only doing this because it's what I finally got from "Aviation USK", ( I really wanted the SE5}, and although it's not on my "Really want list", I'd like to do it right. To be specific, is Goering's DV, painted camo, or lozenge fabric? TIA JW
