Roden's 1/48 S.E.5a, two?????

Looking for S.E.5a experten with two questions about Roden's 1/48 kit #419 which looks very nice in the box.

1. One the lower wings and horizontal tail surfaces there are triangular mouldings with white decals provided. These appear to me to represent clear panels with internal cables and pulley for the control surfaces. Can anyone confirm this?

2. Decal scheme for RAF B139, in Palestine, 1918, indicates overall darek earth instead of the green. Does this indicate PC 12 vs. PC 10?

Thanks

1. Yes.

2. Could be PC12 or AMAPDT reddish brown - both available from the Misterkit range:

I can't answer question 2, but for #1 check out the Most unique Builds etc. thread (First Entry) for a link to my build of the Viper Powered version of the 5a. Just one solution to the triangular shaped cutouts. IHTH,
RAGIII
PS: Just in case, it was Internet Modeler, May 2005.

Thanks for the Feedback

I think the MisterKit AMAPDT will fit the bill and I appreciate the info on the inspection panels.

RAGIII - I like you solution for the tirangular panels and the hints from your build article. Question - did you use the kit roundels or something from Americals? The kit roundels seem a little dark on the sheet but the ones on your buildup look OK.
Thanks

Rick

Rick, IIRC, I used the Americals roundels for the underwing. For the fuselage and upper wing I used decals from a Blue Max Snipe. The Americals are a good shade of blue, but my white ring outlines were out of register. Enjoy your build!
