Eduard Fokker EV

Latest Update to their website has details:

http://www.eduard.cz/./products/card...r=&page_start=

Fairly predictable markings, but not surprising really. Like the snake/rabbit. No Jasta 6 yet - presumably held back for a limited edition?

Hedging their bets on wing painting; overall olive or streaked olive - but no two tone upper and lower. Interesting options of wing either smooth or wobbly ply.

Also announced combo for D VII (Fok).

The Halberstadt DV still shows on the future products bit, but wasn't mentioned in the future program. Hope its still coming!

Dittos here, once they show color art work, ED has always come thru with the kits, not as soon as we would proabably like, but still there eventually...

Wing choices

Greetings!

I must admit, I'm curious as hell to see the wing treatments. I hope the "bumpy" one is not too overdone.

Spare up there?

The kit has two wings? One spare to use with the Aurora kit?

Or perhaps the DML kit. I always hated filling in that huge seam on the undersurface

I also hate filling that hideous spanwise sink mark on the upper surface.

Two wings

Photos of the E.V sprues are now up on the Eduard site. It looks like the wings are modeled in a single piece. I cannot decern any difference between the two wings from the photo. One is supposed to have a "bumpy" surface. I suppose when the build photos go up we'll be able to see a difference.

Can anyone elaborate on this "Bumpy Surface" option? What is the basis for this, and where did it originate?

TIA,

Will

Essentially this means that the undulating scallops or valleys between the wing rib stations was visible to some degree even on the 3mm thick plywood skin that covered the wing. (The 3mm is an average and it tended to change at the joints at they mated and had to be about half or less than their overall beveled thickness.)

This is noted especially on modern full sized replica aircraft. Thought these valleys were not as pronounced at those on fabric covered wings of other aircraft it is now considered a realistic representation. Therefor a viable gimmick for the kit sales. The problem I forsee is that many modelers that haven't seen the threads in the aircraft section of the "Drome" are going to try to represent the wing as being fabric covered only.
