Roden Camel 1/72nd, Poland 1920...

Here is my latest, and it almost didn't make it to the drome! Halfway through the rigging it slipped from my fingers, fell a whole 2 inches to the desk and broke in two! I yelled, screamed, cursed,... and put it right back together.

Anyway, Roden 2F1, modified for 2 Vickers, with the markings of 7 Eskadra Mysliwska, flown by F/lt. Kenneth Murray, October, 1920.

The colors are MrKit PC-10, Italian Dark CDL, and the usual techinique for the wood. It's pretty much OOB except for the decals from Kagero Sopwith Camel book and Ethicon and sprue for rigging.

Fun build, but now that it's over I can begin the Mickl-Oeffag A11.

From the Factory on the hill,
John

Thanks Ross. The strange thing is that the pics show the double wires all askew, which they are not. I think it was the late afternoon sun throwing shadows...

Very cool!
Looks very nice in Polish markings.

Pity that the original plane was crashed so quickly... And it was the only Polish Camel.

Cheers!
G.

Great work on the rigging.

It's possible the lighting in this photo, but I would've done the 'wooden' parts differently as they look rather crude.

Apart from that it is a sweet little model. Funny coincidence, about the model and the original both crashing. Good to see you've repaired the damage, John

Keep it up!

Rick

Thanks for posting pics of your build John

Very interesting markings! Is it a straightforward build?

Where do you get your Ethicon wire from?

I am having a great deal of difficulty dealing with Smallparts.com. I lodged my internet order with them in the early New Year. No response. I sent three emails asking what was happening - no response. I have rung them three times (international toll call) and at last I know who handles the international sales (Anthony Philage) but he has too much work to cope with at the moment. Most companies would be glad to have customers wanting to buy their stuff . . .

Happy Modelling
James

Yes, I get my Ethicon from Smallparts, and I use the phone. There must be a supplier of this stainless thread in Europe. It is used extensively in cardiac and chest surgery, so Smallparts cannot have a monopoly on the stuff.

Thanks all,
John
