I for one am sorry to see Eduard's prices rise as steeply as they have; $49.95 for the Brisfit, $29.95 for the DVIII, etc. I especially mourn the loss of the Alb D.III, and its resurrection with decals I don't care about for a lofty price. Similarly, while the Camel combo you mention is a bit more attractively priced, I really don't see a need or desire for two identical kits bought at a time.

They've priced themselves right out of my reach.

Lugarno67; I totally understand that sentiment. But I have to give it to Eduard. They are giving us a good deal between the single kit ($ 39.95) of the D.VII and its Dual combo kit ($44.95.) There was only a five dollar (USD) difference in the MSRP (manufacturers suggested retail price.) That is for double everything except the national, unit and personal markings decal sheet. At least they're giving us something additional.

Thumbs up Timing is Everything........

I happened to have a little money tucked away when Eduard announced the advanced sale option on the Royal DVII; $75 US with free shipping.

I hadn't bought one yet, and at $25 US per kit I felt Eduard was at least giving us an opportunity to save (in bulk) so I jumped on it.

Havn't recieved mine yet, and I'd nearly forgotten about it until Stephen's post. I hope to soon 'meet the Fokkers'.

Anyone heard anything new about their 1/48th SPAD XIII series?

Cheers,

Dackel

Stephen,

I know what you mean about additional value. But now I find myself much more attracted to the Roden offerings. The Brisfit + the Part p/e set (which is massive, and far better than Eduard's), can be had for about $30 combined.

Time was when I would buy Eduard kits almost exclusively, they were such a bargain. But now? Honestly, I don't give a rat's hairy keister for some fake PLM medal, and it bugs me that Eduard's going this way.

Their recent marketing and pricing strategies make me feel like they look on me as a sucker. Probably not entirely fair, but again: they're charging a lot for fluff, IMO.

Rant over.

Agreed Roden has great value in detailed basic kits. Thats why I have The Bristol, two SE 5a types and a Strutter under construction as we speak.
