Eduard Camel kit #8060 build.

Greetings all;
I was asked to participate in a kit build over on Aeroscale and just finished the project.
Click here for the build.

Nicely done, Stephen. I like the build-link as well. How did you make the castor stains on the underside?

Well I began by making sure that the starter magneto was off then I had Ginger turn the prop twice. Then I turned the mag back on and...

I have a wash mixture of field drab and tan. I airbrush it on and then spray a clear dull coat barrier down. Once dry I stipple the same mixture (sludge at the bottom) with a stiff bristle brush and dull coat it again.

Ah, yes...stippling...I thought so. I was thinking of using a very light wash and some sponge, with two or three coats.

Thanks.

Stephens Mag Lamp

Dear Stephen,
I was looking through the pictures linked with the Camel build and noticed the Lamp on your workbench (and a very nice one it is too) was a magnifying glass lamp that uses a circular flourescent source.
I do wish that you would have mercy on yourself and see if you can get hold of one that uses an incandescent source. Bosch makes one that uses a regular light bulb priced at about $30-40 IRRC. Harbor Freight (cheap tools cheap) makes a pretty good knockoff for about $10.
The issue is that flourecent light flickers in association with alternating current. Usually the sources are in a ceiling an the distance somewhat mitigates the effect. The rub comes when it is used up close and the effect is undiminished. The eye fatigue is substantial. It becomes an irritant that one is hard put to identify. I am aware of this because lighting is my business.
I traded my flo for the Bosch inky and there aren't enough horses in the kingdom to tear it away from me.
Best regards,
Terry Crisp

Thanks Terry,

The original images were taken back in 1999. Since then I have come to use another type of lamp. I use my optivisor so much. I never really use the magnifying kinds. I always wondered about the effects of florescent lighting and incandescent. This old dog has learned a new trick thanks! Stephen
