super glue tips which material ?

Hi

Can anyone tell which plastic the heat stretched plastic applicator tips for cyanoacrylate glue are made from. I have been using R/C BOND glue which comes with 2 extra tips but they donīt last as long as the bottle as they are very fine. I have just bought some polypropelyne tube but it melts through when I try and stretch it. Would I be right in assuming that teflon or pfte is the right material to heat stretch.

Cheers

Andrew

I gave up with those AM CA GLUE Appliactor tips for the Same reason ?

I make a cup from a small swatch of Wax Paper in a Bottle Cap or something and pour a small amount of CA in there. I then take a four inch length of Steel Wire and DIP the wire end in the CA and apply where necessary ?

Later the Dried CA can be removed/stripped from the Tip of the Wire as you go say with a pair of pliers. I find the CA in the WAX Paper can be covered and used the next day until it thickens and finally dries at which point I throw the wax paper away and start all over ?

Yours Mike

I must say that the tips that come with the rc bond glues are perfect, if any members are technologicaly savvy and can tell me wether teflon nylon or what is used I would be very greatful as heatstretching goes with ww1 modelmaking and the control is pretty good with the rc bond tips.

Cheers

by the way donīt forget the trick of running fine fishing line through rub and buff for rigging it works great and looks most realistic !

CA application

I stick a sewing needle into the eraser end of a pencil, and then nip off half the eye, creating a U-shaped end that holds a tiny drop of CA. Ideal for anchoring rigging.

Teflon Tubing...,

Hi Waldo,

I buy small diameter teflon tubing sold separately from the CA at my local hobby shop. A length of about an inch is inserted into the enlarged tip of the glue bottle nozzle till only about a quarter inch is still sticking out. This is the only way that I've found to have control over the application of thin CA. The glue will dry in the tubing between build sessions and is removed by pulling the tube out of the nozzle a short distance and clipping it off. Another well known item for application is to take a medium to large size sewing needle and grind off the end of the "eye" to make a two pronged fork. Stick the pointy end into a length of three-eighths dowel and secure with CA. I take a small piece of plasticine modeling clay and make a depression with the end of a small paint brush to form a well. Put several drops of CA into it and with the pin fork applicator you now have a precision CA application system (well at least the application part was the intention)...,
