Why don't simply retouch the edges of the rudder with the appropiate paints? Trim the excess decal film with a sharp blade, and then paint the edge of the rudder.

Too much work, that's why there are rudder decals, because painting straight lines is hard.

You have to use masking tape sold at models stores.. in a pinch you can use standard painter tape.. but both are so sticky that chances are you will rip up the paint or the decal when separating. Been there done that
My suggestion is to spray varnish on the painted area
before applying tape, then the paint won't peel off
