Hello JohnReid (and Phillipe)
Wow! Those figures look terrific! The
Frank Luke piece really seems to capture him, and the Richthofen figure is the best I've ever seen (and there are quite a few).
However, if it's not too late, I might point out one small change that could be made in the Richthofen figure. The obssessive purists among us would point out that MvR's famous "Geschwaderstock" walking stick had a 'knobby' or 'knotted' appearance, and not a swirled appearance as the one with the figure seems to:
This stick was reportedly carved for him by a group of Unteroffiziere (corporals) who had 'carved it under enemy fire in the front line trenches'. If so, it's kind of remarkable that it first appears in the well-known photo of MvR in a white sweater in front of an Albatros D.II at
Jasta Boelcke (with Wortmann, Imelmann and Kirmaier) when he was still a relative unknown. There are several other good photos of it, including the propaganda shot of Goering standing in front of his white Fokker D.VII. The top of the stick ended in a large knob or grip.
Just thought I'd point that out, obssessive nitpicker that I am.
