Thats a nice Pfalz you got there, but I still wanna put the grey in the silvermix. Why, Its because I don´t wanna end up with a paint that holds to much silver in it. Watch out for the big metalflakes in some manifacture paints. When I paint silverdoop I want to get some live in the monocolour, so from that basecolour I can add a tiny drop of black or more white. Just to change the tone in the paint. It will still be a sivergrey, but it have some tones in the paint.
But I´ll guess nobody is wrong in the thread
I will sind in a picture of it the first of Dec. Just in the finishing stages of a Nieuport 17 in silverdop (/ Eduard 1/48).The Nie will be in a contest with Stephen as supreme judge

Thank you for the kind words Lars. Actually for scale look in silbergraü I would use Model Master buffable aluminum, coated with Testors clear dull coat. To get the shine back for the metal surfaces, just was lightly with clear thinner.

Would I be correct in thinking that you don't want to create a silver that is too silver. For 1/48th scale, 2 drops of silver and one drop of grey should do the trick.

Hi Bob
Thats correct. I´dont want the silver to be to "silverish". I always try to scale down the brigtness of the colour on my models. That takes away the "corgy toy" taste Even if the colour is total correct from the right tin. My feeeling is that the paint must be scaled down, then the harmony of the model will be nice. But this is just my point of the paintproblem.
Here is an old model i finished some years ago. It´s panted in a mix of white, grey and silver.I think the mix was 35-35-30%

Hi Stephen

Hello Lars,
Thanks for the info.
How would you deal with a bold colour like Red? I only ask because I'm in the process of painting an Alb DVa of jasta 18. I need all the help I can get!

Many thanks.
