When you model...

Atmosphere is important when building. Movies, music and comfort let you build for longer periods and accomplish more. For instance this is what I listen to.
Radio stream.

Then there are movies I have all of the usual suspects when it comes to WWI aviation. Sports is too distracting for me. What do you do to sooth your other senses when building?

Greetings all,

I am much the same as you Stephen. I usually put on some good music and build away. I usually have my laptop to the right of my build table and either do searches for my subject or have a nice picture of the aircraft I am working on up on the desktop. When hockey is on I usually watch that on TV, but like you say it can be distracting. All is usually fine until my wife summons me for some small chore she wants done RIGHT then.

I prefer the quiet of the night.

No telephones ringing, no disturbances.

I lose myself in my thoughts and focus on the task at hand. Building becomes a meditative state that is very calming and relaxing. Sometimes my cat comes in and sits by the modeling table until I waggle a piece of well chewed Contrail section for her to play with.

Oommmm...

From the Factory on the hill,
John

Alas, being a newspaperman it's hard to shake off the habit. I've usually got the TV tuned to news. Except FOX, which gives me agita. Otherwise, it's soundtrack music, Beethoven or Pink Floyd.

I'm listening music when modelling. Can be varied, but usually it's hard rock... My actual favourite is German group Ramstein.

Besides modelkitbuilding I also am a fanatic dancer, mainly rock and roll. So Stephen, that rockandrollheaven sure is a good link for me! But my workbench is not near my computer, so stick to listening to CD's

Greetings, Nico

My Gallery
First to say that I for a long time practice Chinese Martial Art and also some method of mediatation. So no problem about this. But when I start to built my daughter also want to join to the action...

I listen music and there is in last time large mega mix of the trans and rave music. Can you beleive it that I also listen Sinatra Anyway- work without music is not nice atmosphere for me.

When you model

Beethovan, Bach, or occasionally Vivaldi, if the mood is right.

One of two things.
Music - Hard rock like Scimitar (Ramstein are good, SOAD, Green Day etc.), interspersed with a bit of Pink Floyd, Triffids, Pogues etc. generally turned up pretty loud
or
I've got a fluffy cat who doesn;t like loud music but does really likes lieing under my desk while I build. If he comes in I don;t put music on & just enjoy his company. He's also occassionally been handy spotting flying bits before the carpet monster drags them into the depths.
