Caproni CA-3 in 1/48?!?
So says Rowan Baylis:
WW1 fans have a lot to look forward to! The undoubted star is a 1/48 scale Caproni Ca-3! This may only appear as a Royal Class kit, but it could be one of those models that become legends! On a more down to earth level, there are 1/72 and 1/48 scale SPAD XIIIs, a 1/72 scale Nieuport 17, plus a 1/48 scale Fokker E.III and, at last!, a DR.1! With Eduard's reputation for WW1 aircraft, these should all be rather special...
Won't this be a blast!

So will the cost of it. But you get what you pay for and seeing how good Eduard kits are the Caproni CA-3 will be great.

and, as a Royal Class kit, that will bump the price up, too, no doubt. Still....it's not to early to think about bday/Christmas presents!

It looks like Italeri is going to put out Caproni Ca. 3 in 1/48:

So, will there be an Eduard release also? I wonder...

I'll have to go over to the USAF Museum to check out the color scheme of their Caproni before I start this one.

Duplication of effort
You would think that kit manufacturers would have the sense to communicate with one another to avoid duplication of the same subject. Now that both Eduard and Italeri are introducing the Caproni, they will split the limited market share and have less capital for future projects.

I have a hard time seeing Italeri squeezing much of a share out of Eduard on a WWI kit, or any other subject, for that matter. Aside from who is first to market, which would you be inclinded to buy?
I have only one experience with an Italeri kit, and it was so so. Eduard, however, I've come to love and trust.

Eduard or Italeri?
I guess I will wait until I see reviews of both kits. I just hope they have used restraint in producing the rib tapes. Why is it that some manufacturers can not divide a dimension by forty eight? Rib tapes are made from cloth not strips of wood.

My answer is thus: It depends on a couple of factors;
1. PRICE, Is there a significant difference in the price of obtaining one versus the other?
2. Accuracy relative to price; If the Italeri kit is somewhat less accurate, can be corrected fairly easily, and finally is a lot less in cost, then that is the one I will purchase
