Roden 1/32nd Pfalz D.III Problem

Everyone,
I just received mine in Friday and popped one open. Urk! Major packaging problem. The wings do not have a tree all of the way around the molding. Both the lower and upper wingtips were pranged and bent. The box is much larger than the kit and they slide back and forth in the box. I then checked the others, same thing. So beware and check your kit as soon as you receive them. One of the kits I had, had a broken upper wing tip and damage to the trailing edge of the aileron. Everything else appears to be okay. Nice kit. Test fits well.
Regards,
Richard

mine too

RRFisher,
My wing tips are pranged too. Kudos to Roden for making them so thin but some protection would be greatly appreciated. How are your decals? Mine are way out of registration.

bad luck

I´ve got my kit wednesday this week. No problem on the wings an a correct decalsheet. try to mail Roden for replacements, They are nice and answer every mail in my opinion.
i have spoken to the distributor of Roden in Sweden and He havent find any kit that have this problems with the wings.

So if you don´t want any warping buy the kit from Sweden

As others have said, Roden has consistantly corrected any problems with their kits, up to and including replacement of major parts at their expense. E Mail them, I think you will be satisfied!

Agreed completely. Excellent service. I'm in Australia & the replacement I needed was sent surface mail so it took a few weeks but all good

I just got mine today and the wing tips were fine but the top wing was warped rather badly with anhedral. Anyone else have that problem. All else seemed fine.

Roden Pfalz warped wing

I have just received my 1/32nd scale Roden Pfalz D.III. The top wing had a rather pronounced warp in it. About 3/32 inch of in the center section. I did email Roden for a replacement wing. Do they respond at all? Would anyone know of a safe way to heat and remove the warp?
A kit I paid over $50.00 for ought to have at least good wings I think.

Misery loves company?

Looks like mine has suffered the same fate in shipping as all yours. The lower wingtips are much worse than the uppers. Repairable, but should I have to?

RRfisher's views about the trees not wrapping around the wings are spot on. They would have protected those thinly molded wings. Hopefully Roden will change the molds not to have any more unhappy campers.

On the brightside, the decals looks good. Lets hope they stick!

Salute,
Steve

They should adopt the Hobbycraft trick of rubberbanding the wings to a piece of cardboard

Yes, I did think of that but wondered what would be more cost effective, adding the tree around to protect the wings or paying for the materials and labor to add the cardboard.

I did email Roden last night and will let everyone know about their answer, if any.

Salute,
Steve
