Roden 1/32 Fokkers Engine covers

I just got Roden's 1/32 Fokker D.VI and Dr.1, and I noticed that both kits have the same problem in the part representing the engine cowling: There is no detail at all! The true cowling (in both airplanes) is supposed to be of two different parts, a "ring" that goes around the engine and a circular "face" that goes before it. These two parts are kept together with screws.
Isn't that correct? That's the idea I get when looking at photos, at Revell's 1/28 old kit and even at the artwork of Roden's Boxes.
The relative part of the kit, however, is a single piece that shows just the general shape of the structure.
So, it needs correction - cutting and additions.
Has anybody done this already? Especially with the screws, how could they be represented?
ANY ideas, advice or links-to-the-solution, would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Replacement cowling

Jurgen,
Cutting Edge has a replacement cowling available for the DR-1/D-VII. But in order for you to use the cowl you will need to cut down the back of the engine at least an eigth of an inch. In addition, you will need to leave off all of the cylinder heads but the three exposed at the bottom of the cowl. The resin is very nice and once you make the engine mods it fits well and looks great too. Add the compression band that holds the cowling onto the air frame, brackets and bolt heads and you have much improved
Aircraft.
Also Eduard makes a very nice PE set for the DR-1.

There were two types. One was riveted together the other was welded.

Cowling in shame

Here's one solution for dealing with it from an earlier thread...

Which means that there were no bolts? And the appearance was as is in the Roden kit? Or was the joining line still visible somehow?

The weld was inside the cowl.

My Gallery
Welded cowl face.

Stephen lawson:
I do believe all Fok.DR.I cowling faces were riveted as well as the Fok.D.VI. The initial Fok.E.V cowls were rivited , and late production were welded.

Thanks to all for the info. I will try out all solutions, as I plan to make a few of these. When I'm ready, I will post some photos showing the results.

Regards.
