Hello, Stephen,
Can you guide me to a reference that outlines specifically how each of the types of lozenge fabric was applied by the various manufacturers, when? I seem to recall a comment somewhere on the forum to the effect that "this manufacturer applied its four-colour fabric in such a way, whereas that manufacturer applied it in such another way. This MFG used blue/lilac rib tapes, but that one only used strips of the lozenge fabric..." and so on. THis quote from your Battle Axe DVII build is a lead-in: "...but the 5 colour was pretty universal on the D.VII types from some mid production Schwerin built Fokker D.VII right thru all of Albatros built. The 4 color was seen on early and later Schwerin Fokker and OAW types." Further on in the quote, you mention "the Anthology." Is this what I should be reading? Any guidance will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for this lead, Hugh. That's what was missing from my memory: it was a link elsewhere, and not an Aerodrome thread. Consider me duly and formally "stuck in!" And, Stephen: thanks for all of this research. I for one most certainly appreciate it, and I am sure that the vast majority of Forumites do as well!

No worries good people!
I have to give proper respects to Dan Abbott, good fellow that he is. It was his research that got me started in this. I have to say it feels pretty good to be able to have been apart of this endeavour. Maybe we can get Tom to do the very dark 5 colour and others if the line prospers. Tom Sollers has to be given the credit for taking this on. I can say that half way through his attempt he suffered a personal setback and struggled through on his own merit to finish these. Model on gentle folk!

Kudos to all involved Stephen,
I don't know about anybody else, but it has been the lack of decent Losenge decal and easy access to it that has stopped me from building German subjects in the past. No such excuse now! Cheers, Hugh |
