Belgian Nieuport "Bebe" 1:72 Toko

Hello,

yesterday I managed to finish the Belgian Nieuport. I used the decals by HR Models. The name of the plane "Vampire" is not very accurate representation of the real name, but I always wanted this plane in my collection, so I used those decals anyway.
Here are some pics:

Hi RobertL,

I like it! Nice attention to detail, add-ons, appropriate weathering, and usage.
Great subject and markings. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Robert. Your model looks great. Nice work on the engine, windscreen and Lewis gun, and what did you use as turnbuckels? It's a funny thing because we build the Fokker E.III practically in the same timeline and now I'm building that model from toko too (but the Navarre's one). One of the major flaws on the model is the wingspan of the inferior wing (at least when comparing it with the drawings of the windsock special), tell me, how did you solved this? As I didn't had any other wing to replace the original one, I had to cut it twice between the last and penultime rib and then I had to fabricate two extensions in plastic card gluing ,sanding, filling and sanding again to get the right wingspan.Cheers

The best drawings to use on the Nie.11 are the ones in the Lafayette Escadrille special. All others are flawed.

Be that as it may, when I was comparing the Toko Nie.11 to drawings, the best way I found to "push out" the lower wing was to cut each wing away from the center section and add plastic at the fuselage after gluing the center section to the fuselage, enough to push it out to match the drawings. This will also get the attachment points for the interplane struts in the right location.

Hi, for turnbuckles I used the famous "Bob's Buckles". They are simply great, and very easy to deal with. It was my first meet with those buckles, but it seems I'm a truly devoted fan of this product now.

A for the wrong wingspan of the lower wing, I simply didn't know that and left the wings as they are. I'll probably use your idea of correcting the wingspan when I start my Nieuport 16, also from Toko.
