Color Chips on line

I realize this is a pretty open question, but does anyone know of a posting of a collection of reasonably accurate color chips for WW I aircraft.

Before, I get chastised, I am aware of the problems with colors on monitors and printers and that for ACCURATE colors you need real chips.

But I saw a "chip" set somewhere posted in a forum that had colors that would be good for most modeling applications that I do and now I can't find it again.

Thanks,

Dale

Dale,

I found this link in this Forum using the search function. I like it because many of the colors are matched to their Methuen numbers.

Me? I've never used them, but I'm about ready to just buy the misterkit paints shown on the link you posted, since they've done all the hard work of researching the colors.

WW1 German Colors

In the recent issue of Windsock Worldwide Vo. 24, No.3 May/June 2008 (was called Windsock International) out of the UK is a serious and thought provoking article by the artist Allan Forbes entitled "Idflieg Colour Conundrums". His hypothesis is the relative simplicity of using a few pigments which are modified chemically to produce a range of colors. He displays a color palette showing his test results. I have always felt that Germany ingenuity was used to simplify a least-cost approach to finishing aircraft.

I have used Misterkit paints because, as an artist, their colors have that certain feel of realism. In fact, I am so concerned that they will disappear that I have matched their colors and created paint chips for ModelMaster, Vallejo, Andrea, Humbrol, Tamiya, and so on. I'm concerned also that these brands might work better with a brush or airbrush under certain conditions.

I am trying to understand Idflieg's camouflage directives but I can't seem to find reliable sources with order numbers, dates, and description of the directive changes. I would appreciate some help here.
