I just start the art work for this decal, (oops...wet transfer) and I would like to know about some possible suggestions for interesting versions. *I would not like just "scale-up" the Aeromaster 1/48 decal, but include some other options. *I already ordered the Osprey books for this, but they will take some time to arrive, so I decided to talk with all friends to know what do you want more...

In time:
The two 1/48 wet-transfers for Fokker D.VII are already done and available with FlightDecs, and further with Rosemond and Hannant's too

If you want obscure, never-seen-before, there is my cousin Antonin's from SPA 80, September 1918.

Unfortunately, there are no personal markings, and the escadrille emblem was a simple diagonal fuselage stripe, blue, edged white.

I have a good photograph if you are interested.

Offhand. I cant' think of a particular scheme that I would recommend. However, you are correct about Osprey's book on the Spad XIII. It is full of colourful schemes on French Spad XIII. When you do get Osprey's book, check out the scheme on page 33 of Lt. Armand de Turenne and page 34, that of Lt.Gabriel Guerin.
By the way, I noticed that FlightDecs have a couple of your decal sheets marked "not available", those of the Albatros D V and the "sworld camouflage". Are they simply out of stock or are they no longuer avaialble?

Hello Michael, your offer is very good, no problemif there is no colorful personal markings, if you can suply me with the details as serial number, an image where I can see the diagonal fuselage stripe and other things, I can include it in the set (it should be an option for who is tired of Rickenbacker...).
GuyCanuck, about FlighDecs, the Albatros D.V decal was replaced some days ago, so I believe thar they will be updating their site soon. *The Sworl decal is out of stock at this moment, but it is already under printing proccess, and comes available again in three weeks.

FCM,

I don't know if this has been done before, but I've always been partial to "Smith IV" as flown by Ray Brooks and on display at the Smithsonian.

He was in the 22nd Aero Squadron, and I've always loved their squadron emblem.

Regards,

Hello Lufbery,

Is this version showed in Spad Aces or American Aces books from Osprey? *If yes, I will take care about it as soon the books arrive here, if not, just send me some photos and i will do it! (Probably I will make more than one decal for 1/32 Spad XIII, as for Albatros D.V from Hi-Tech, Nieuport 17, etc... Just give me time for that.) *

Here it is.

As you can see from the information, he was killed Sept. 16, 1918, in a collision with a squadron mate, who survived.

I'm pretty sure there's a profile of Brooks's "Smith IV" in either the Albatross books on the Spad 13, or the Squadron/Signal "Spad Fighters in Action" book.

There are a couple of good shots of the plane on the web as well:

.
Notice the iron cross patches used on the bullet holes. Those would make great decals too.

By the way, are you looking to do the decals in other scales too?

I believe that Smith IV also was the centrespread in the Profile Publications SPAD XIII.

I'll try to rescan that photo. It's an older scan and I'm sure i can get it sharper.

Michael,

That's a cool photo. I assume your cousin is the dapper fellow by the Spad's tail, right?
