Alcoholics no so Anonymus Modelers

I believe that Neil_E could probably find another institute to conduct research on the affects of alcohol on "modelers' shakes", an ailment that becomes increasingly intensified in older modelers. How 'bout it, Neil?

Funding! That's the issue, funding!

Seriously, though I can't see any point in drinking alcohol (now coffee thats a different matter!) when you're modelling. Basically because:

a) Alcohol affects your ability to concentrate for long periods of time;

B) Alcohol negatively affects your gross and fine motor skills (certainly not okay when your mucking about with fine PE bits);

c) Alcohol negatively affects your frustration tolerance;

d) Alchohol affects your hand-eye co-ordination;

e) Alcohol may amplify already existing minor shakes (or palsies as we like to call them at The Institute).

f) Alcohol may effect your ability to visually focus on very small objects.

I know others will no doubt disagree with this as it contradicts man's god-given right to drink at every occasion but it happens to be true. But if we are out to do the best we can at the hobby, why purposely decrease the skills we have worked so hard to develop?

I like the odd scotch every now and then, but not when I'm modelling.

As an aside I have a friend who swears by a joint of wacky baccy before he starts modelling - he says it does wonders.

Personally, I would say the affects for marijuana is the same as for alochol in relation to the above points.

Just look at the Good Herr Doktor Von Humbrol; he escewed alcohol for most of his life and he lived to be 104! He may lived longer if it hadn't been for that slattern D_____a >
