A facade can be a building but it could also be a tree-line or a rock face of a cliff.
You mean something like this is a prime candidate for a diorama? *(Of course getting them all "on step" might be a little tricky).

What a disappointment, Three nude Air Force Albatrosses (sp)

Anyone ever see the sign on Harbor Dr near the S.D. Ca airport "WARNING AIRPLANE CROSSING" ?
The CG used to fly ALBs and land in the S.D. bay then walk them across the hiway to the airpot for take off.

To assist you with some possible considerations I invite you to view Robert Karr's dioramas at,

http://members.aol.com/karrart/galris.htm

In one example Mr. Karr's partial builds and spares were combined in a great diorama of an aircraft salvage yard. Think along those lines and any other ones you had the chance to peruse.

The scrapyard sounds fascinating (I've thought along those lines myself). *Unfortunately I can't get into that part of his webpage.

Years ago I took a picture of a derelict ex-RCAF Expeditor at the Rockcliffe Airport. *Since my Rareplanes vacform Expeditor has been superceded by the Hobbycraft injection-mould, I might yet get around to using it for that project.

Derelict aircraft are a fascinating diorama topic.
