Dr Neil,

Ahhh, so the "Enrico Fernandes" polaroids have emerged again have they. As you are aware although the good Doktor is exposed in all of his magnificence, the mask, feathers and cabbages make it impossible to identify the "lady" in any one of the six pictures. We must also remind you that none of them show the characteristic duelling scar that Great Aunt Dymphna has upon her left thigh.

Look to your lawyers sir....

Richard

....Enrico Garcia Fernandez del Morte, curse his filthy name...

Richard;

The Good Herr Doktor Von Humbrol always asserted it was Dymphna in the photos. And how do you explain the chicken in photo 4? Remember Dymphna's fling with Albert Ball and the chicken? The evidence is circumstantial I agree and just because we dont have a "full frontal fuselage" picture it doesn't mean it isnt Dymphna. If only that chicken could talk.....

As for Enrico Garcia Fernandez Del Morte, his attempts to blackmail Herr Doktor Von Humbrol are a black day in modern psychiatry. However, you'll agree his demise in a duel with the "Duelling Professor" Dr Count Guido Italeri has a certain poetry to it. Seems he tried a similar trick with the Count but didn't take into account the Count's deadly skills with a rapier. Oh well such is history.

We will agree to withdraw our claims re the photos if Great Aunt Dymphna returns Vol 4 (known as "The Hidden Years Volume") of the Professor's memoirs to its rightful home at The Institute.

By the way Richard any thoughts on CMAS? Do you too suffer from this complaint?

All the Best

Top Gun:

We at The Institute know of Queen Elizabeth's Airfix habits. I can say this now but a couple of years ago Lizzie had terrible AMS. She had built the Airfix Blenheim 127 times, each time trying to get the clear nose transparencies to fit right. Which, of course, is near impossible to do without some major alteration.

All we did was turn her on to Tamiya and Eduard kits and she hasn't had a days AMS since. Thanks to our timely intervention the monarch was saved from AMS and I believe my knighthood is in the next honours list

Michael;

One would have thought HRH would have been naturally drawn to these regal figures (except for the Cromwell perhaps?) but no, it was the 1/72 Bristol Blenheim. Whilst the reasons weren't exactly clear why this was (there are things you don't ask HRH), my theory was, after seeing her collection of 127 Blenheims and other Airfix products was that she was originally working her way through the entire Airfix catalogue, from Series 1 on. She had made a good fist of it until she encountered the Blenheim.

As usual the canopy and front transparency did not fit and being a commendably determined modeller HRH was determined to turn out a credible Blenheim. After five kits, AMS symptoms were beginning to appear. By ten kits she was suffering from an obsessive variant of full blown AMS.

Lucky we got there in time!

Also I detect near silence on the cursed problem of CMAS?

Is everyone too ashamed to admit it?

All the Best

Answer to the Pop Quiz- You 'Get the attention of your peers or arouse their - ( you in the back- Stop It!!) interests' in your chosen modeling subject by using the Stimulus to control the response.

http://www.us-aircraft.com/jasta19.htm

Check out the photos concerning the Pilot being helped with his overall/flying kit. These of course are the Jaguar figures sculpted by the Master Sculpter Mike Good. Mr. Good used a photo of Ltn. Hans Pippart being helped by a ground crewman as a basis for the figures. I simply put the figures with the pertinent aircraft (Fok.Dr.I 471/17) then placed a copy of the photo by the model in a regional contest. The piece did very well.

Teachers have always had the problem of arousing interest among students in a given field of study. Newspapers decide what will appeal to their readers. Television networks have a vital concern about what will interest the largest population of viewers. Politicians want to know what will get them re-elected. Ministers must present the congregation with a palatable interpretation of the scriptures.

Ever try to talk to someone and get the feeling that their not listening? Stimulus is what causes a response.
Examples:
Intense bright Light causes squinting or blinking.
Door slamming causes people to turn and watch.
Comedian doing a slip & fall causes laughter.
Itching causes scratching. (We won't go into what causes the itching here.)
Dry feeling in throat causes swallowing (and we won't dscuss with what either.)

With modelers its size (yes, it matters), colors, action, direction, balance and variation and intensity. These are tools that we use to stand out against a sea of well built models to say I busted my b**t to make this at least look at it!!!

Hi All;...I wonder if Dr Stephen has any thoughts/ research he'd like to contribute on this little known Obessive/Compulsive Disorder?...Neil Dir.Glen.Inst.
Etc. Etc, blah, blah.
Neil_E: Unfortunately I do. Its hard to be this serious on this thread. I knew a man that produced models under a company name. Yes, they were rough but worked up well with alot of work. Some of his kits sell in excess of 250.00 USD on e-bay today. The man squandered 250,000 USD on his company. He purchased thousands of kits for 'research purchases.' He would hide half the kits he bought inside the other half of the kits he bought. Thus hidding his 'problem' from view. He simply was not a business man. And modelmaking is a business. While talented he could not manage his business. When he died of cancer he left these problems for his poor wife to deal with. Fortunately several close friends chipped in to help her retrieve a small part of her money. Creditors and broken promises. I know it sound incredulous but it is true. No smilies here students.

While the contents of such responses (concerning Great Auntie & Herrn Doktor) are at time dubious as the visiting Prof. I want to encourage the class to spill their proverbial guts. *It lets me know:
1. Someone is at least perusing the thread with a small interest.
2. New subjects can be smashed from one court to another as a canary caught in the rackets as it crosses the fields at Wimbleton.
3. Fresh ideas can be savoured and sloshed down.
4. I personally believe that Great Auntie and Herrn Doktor are the personas used by certain participants mask their own delimas and problems.
Yet they use those same personas to reveal their own psycho-seman-tic pyschosies. *('I have a friend that has this problem')
5. We know that the bridges are safe tonight as several of the Trolls are here.
6. I can stay on campus and continue my own studies in the field of the mating habits of the Fullbreasted Coed.

Pop Quiz:What is a habit? *Why are these detremental to modeling skills. *How can they be a positive influence?
