Thanks Tom, most interesting.
Is it know who sculpted the figures?
They are of a very high standard which I would be glad to achieve if I live long enough.

Glad to see a 'new' Triplane but......
How are we to attract new modelers to the hobby with a $74 price tag? The DML Dr.I's have a few faults but in terms of accuracy are still good kits.
I expect we'll see modelers putting the older DML kits on eBay and some bargins coming up in near future as folks want to 'upgrade'. I have 3 of the DML kits on my shelf for future builds so I don't believe the Eduard triplane will hit my door step for a longtime.

I'd start with one of the newer kits.

In general, for a WW1 kit you can't go wrong with any of the later Eduard or Roden releases for ease of assembly and detail. The really early Eduard kits can be molded a bit of the rough side and most (all?) of the Roden kits will have a minor fit problem here or there but nothing that can't be recified and hasn't been discussed here on the Aerodrome.
Also being from LI, let me suggest you take a ride over to Bay Shore Hobbies on Sunrise Highway and Saxon Ave. They have the best selection of WW1 kits in all scales that you can get locally. They stock both mainstream and smaller run kits, aftermarket decals and resin and do get all of the new releases asap. Be prepared to spend some time as the kits can be stacked two deep.
Salute,
Steve

I'm not going to buy this offering. Seems like a big mistake to add an Alb in the box. Sorry Eduard, for once, you have got it wrong.
I can wait.

I would have been happier to see 2 DrIs, Lothar's & Manfred's instead.

Note there is no panel detail on the bottom of the fuselage for the removable aluminum panel covering the wing and containing the drop down, piano hinged maintenance panel. You guys will be busy. Plus I saw F.I tailplane parts and elevators (identical so wasted), but no F.I cowling so if you choose that one, mods will be required. Also second and third style ailerons, but no F.I ailerons. Plus one rudder, the F.I was slightly different. Have fun and pick a Dr.I to model apparently.

The Richthofen Bros. in resin
Hey All,
This release of the Eduard kit with the resin figures of the Richthofen brothers came as a complete surprise to me. All the more so since I had done similar figures for The Model Cellar a while back.
Here are pics of the two figures I had painted for the SCAHMS show in March (before Eduard announced theirs!). Yes, they are 1/48 scale. When released they will also include optional heads wearing the hats in addition to the bare heads shown here. Also notice that I have correctly depicted the different relative heights of the brothers, a detail which seems to have been missed by Eduard. Sorry, no dog though. From the photo on Eduard's site, the dog looks way too big anyway.
Paul says the individual figures will sell for $12.50 and the pair will go for $22. So, if you have to have figures for your Red Baron or Lothar von Richthofen models, you will soon be able to get them from The Model Cellar and save your $75! And of course, you can choose to display them with your old Dragon kits as well....
Cheers!!
Mike Good

That would make more sense but the decal options are good

Lothar's colours
Hi,
Eduard have the Markings for Lothar's tripe as having a yellow upper wing upper surface, just as they did on their 1/72 scale dual combo.
I thought I saw a thread on here a while back, in which several experienced and long-standing members said that this was wrong, that Lothar's wings were streaky green.
Is their still argument over this, or is Eduard right or wrong?
