$159.00!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Eduard has definantly priced this one out of my league! It looks like I will have to stick with my old DML kits for now. Quite honestly no matter how I look at the contents I can't justify the cost.

Do you know anyone in Brazil?

Maybe they could forward it for you.

If it would it cost < US$10 to ship it, you'd be ahead!

At $USD159.00, I just can't be bothered. I can wait for a singleton triplane to be issued without the resin bells and whistles and an Albatros I don't need. I'm with RAGIII on this one. With 160+ kits in the stash, I can keep very pleasantly occupied, thank you very much!:

I don't usually chime in to these sorts of discussions but I too am getting more and more annoyed at model companies pricing their clients out of the market. The more I watch Eduard the more fancy and "frilly" they seem to get with their releases, and honestly, it annoys me. Why release in a dual combo with another aircraft first? Then a royal boxing still with another aircraft that is double the price because it includes some trinkets? Who needs a replica PLM anyways?? All before even thinking about releasing a nomal boxing? The answer is marketing - they are playing on the well to do modeller who "can't wait to have that kit" and who will pay the high prices to be the first on the block to build it. I say we modellers should practice patience (it is our forte' after all) and not pay the prices because we feel we have to. It's no wonder kids aren't getting into and staying into modelling, they can't afford anything but the old basic kits that they have to struggle with...

C'mon Eduard, don't forget your roots here - keep it simple and not too expensive and the high quality of your kits will pay for themselves in more sales. I for one am not interested in this kit until it comes out in a basic and non-expensive boxing. And then I will wait for it to hit the stores here in Australia because paying over half of the kit's price in postage is, quite frankly, ridiculous. I have other things to keep me occupied in the mean time.

And I'm not just having a go at Eduard here either, Roden's kits seem to be going up and up in price and we still don't get any extras (ie etch) in their kits.... sigh... maybe I am asking for too much for my hard earnt dollars, or maybe this is just the way business is today.

Rant over... I'm going back to my modelling bench to do some scratchbuilding.

Looking at the photos you supplied in the other thread I must say that the undersurface is way wrong. Those tapes are way out of scale and DML was much closer to the real thing with the recessed lines on the undersurface. Add all of the other smaller faults and I think Eduard screwed the pooch on this one, unless the single kit is in the $20.00 range. I can improve DML kits for a lot less! I don't know why it is so hard to get things right with this aircraft but it seems we are STILL looking for accuracy and price to come together! Are you listening RODEN! JMHO,
RAGIII

I do agree that fnal price should be lower but this will come in place in some time I hope. DML or Dragon kit have too much more critical failure and they need skilll to be improved. Many years ago I get sample kit from Japan for review when it was just released. Even there was an article in the Model Art magazine how to correct details on the kit.

RAG- you said you are looking at my images and comparing the details? I think you have your sample kit. If you need close up details images please PM to me, I will send you all you need.

Cheers

I honestly don't get the obsession with what other people are willing to pay for a boxing of a kit. Some people really like the extras included in the premium kits. Everybody knows that with time the regular kit will be issued followed by a "weekend" edition. Are people offended because some people are willing to pay a premium to have the kit first, or are they upset that they have to wait to get the version they want or can afford? I seriously don't think this issue would have come up if Eduard would have released their Dr.I as a regualr issue before the upgraded releases. Ultimately it doesn't matter how Eduard decides to market their kits because eventually all versions (Royal, Dual Combo, Regular and Weekend) get released.
