I was just recalling a dead thread by our own Pete LHeureux from last year and thought it would be *great to hear what were all working on now. *

As usual for me in 1/48 scale I just finished; *-
1. Eduard & JGMT one each Hanriot HD.1 types. Belge and Italian for contrast.
2. Eduard two Sopwith Camel types. E7232 Clerget powered 'DIMPS III' , F1445 Gnome powered 185th Aero.
3. *Hi - Tech one Nieuport 24 *80-100 hp LeRhône 'ISIS' 3ist Aero.
5. Hobby Special one - Spad VII as Spa 65 Captured and flown by Windisch of Jasta 32b.
6. 1/32 Battle Axe one Fokker D.VII as 402/18.

On the bench in 1/48 scale and in various staets of completion:
1. Two Eduard Sopwith Triplanes.
2. One Aerobase open frame Fok. Dr.I.
3. One scratchbuilt open frame Fokker D.VII.
4. Two Alb. D.III (OAW).
5. One Alb. D.V Jasta 17.
6. three Pfalz D.III/IIIa types.
7. 3-4 Nieuport 17 conversions to type 21 for a diorama or a workshop at Issoudon.
8. Multiple a/c for Diorama of a German Aircraft Depot.

Basically just finished an Amodel SPAD A.2 using some of the Part photoetch on it. I finished it as what appears to be a training machine found in Avions #48.

Still to be completed are a re-worked Flashback 1.B1 Strutter (correcting various items to make it a "correct" 1.B1). In addition, I have an Omega Morane-Saulnier Type AC ongoing. That one I'm going to try using Mr. Surfacer to replicate the rib tapes. It will be long and tedious, but hopefully it will turn out.

I may finish also - one of these years - two Hansa-Brandenburg D.Is. One a straight Toko kit, the other using the Rosemont conversion on it. They're about 70% done; they're just at a point that causes a lot of pain.

Oh yes, all are 1/72nd, of course. As if any other scale exists... :P

I'm sure I speak for the herd (we AREN'T in "Off Topic", now are we) when I say, I'd really like to see some pics of your projects. I also wonder what your plans might be for the Pfalzen, scheme-wise.

I am currently working on a Jaeger Models Fokker D.VII, "early; high exhaust", with all those cool louvres. Next is a Tom's Pfalz D.IIIa; still hating that spinner. The exhaust manifold is a joke, too. But the rest seems to be OK.

I have a couple of the Jäger Fok. D.VII fuselages set for some near future projects, about a year from now. *Let us know how yours come. I did the OAW mid production version of Starks lilac& black bird about a year ago. I'm really going to miss Jäger. *

I'm working on my first plastic model in about 20 years, a Roland C.II from the Heller kit.

I'm doing the green upper - light yellow undersides color scheme based on the description of Rudolf Stark and as shown in the old Profile Pub.

Basic assembly, painting, and weathering is done. Now need to put on L.G and prop, decals, and rigging.

Having a lot of fun trying some of the detailing techniques I've read about here and on the WWI Modelers' Pages. I've found this inexpensive kit a good way to give these techniques a try.

I am just about to start the final assembly of a 1/16th scale Neiuport 28 diorama. The hangar and furnishings are finished, lighting installed, the aircraft is 90% done asis the old ford model T truck.Hope to finish before the new year.In the planning stage is a JN4C Jenny Canuck also in i/i6th scale. This is a large model with a 30 inch wingspan.I plan to do a diorama with 3-4 fiqures and fabric cover only one side of the open structure.I am doing the general arrangement and preliminary drawings now.I find that this is the truly creative stage and keeps me motivated while completing the assembly stage of thr neiuport. So as far as I am concerned ,let the leaves turn, bring on winter and i will welcome the extra time I can spend in my shop. Its always 72 degress and sunny in Santas Workshop as I call it.Cheers! John.

Regarding the Pfalzies, my opinion (which you did not solicit, I know) is that the Holtzem and Degelow versions are pretty common. Perhaps something a little more obscure would tickle you? There are some pretty cool schemes, like Jasta 62 (black with a red nose) and there's always the rather neglected D.III with green and mauve camo. *I've done one of those, and Jasta 10 yellow looks very nice with those colors. Jasta 30 had some pretty tarted up machines, and seem to be fairly well photo-documented.

I guess another way to put it is this: your other choices, on other types, seems a bit more esoteric, or at least obscure, than the proposed "Pfalzie" schemes.

I checked out the link you had in your earlier post and was predictably impressed with your work. These things are what preclude my posting my own work, although the low resolution constraints on the Forum might save me. While i do get rather fanciful with my paint schemes (I'm an artist) they are not wild beyond possibility.

Anyway, great work, and I'm keepin' 'em peeled.

Cheers

I'm thinking VERY early, with 'streaky green' on all upper surfaces. And maybe even pateé crosses. though that may be pushing it. I've only seen one photo of a D.VII like that, and it was a prototype with no upper wing cut-out. But, like I said in the previous post, I am prone to taking liberties, albeit not to any extreme. A far greater sin is that - gag - I don't rig, except on 1/24 scale.

There. I said it.

Craig: Thanks for the kind words on my builds.

As for the common schemes, I like to balance my builds with two separate issues, scheme and details. When ever I do a common colour scheme I am usually focusing on doing some detail that that most would not expect. The cutaway will be a simple scheme. Hegeler had only the lattice oblong band around the fuselage. For the Holtzem scheme I thought an exposed engine or an engine exchange. For Degelow's Jasta 7 machine (not Jasta 40 as some would propose) I was thinking of a salvage party after the crash. I find that in most cases the simpler a scheme the better when your adding a multitude of details. It detracts less from what you want people to really see. Just my opinion.
