Greetings all;

I have the lozenge decals Derry mentioned and we will see a build beginning sometime in the fall / autumn with our own Lars Qvarfordt callsign "Repainted."

He has this fine little kit and I will pass these and my left-overs to him. Lars has a bit of talent with WWI aviation and we will be in for a very decent build.

This is not the night 5 color printed fabric poattern.

Gentlemen;
Don't be mislead, this is not the printed night five color pattern! It is a random pattern in the approximate night colors, and a little on the light side.

Hey Dan;
No its not the printed 5 colour camouflage. Its the painted lozenge camouflage for the Staaken in a printed decal form. As the first portion of this thread describes. No one is trying to mislead anyone. You are jumping the gun a bit ?!

Here is a bit of a repeat from their website and the first portion of this thread. Nothing here about printed lozenge. This scheme was painted on the fabric.

". . .Premium Decal Sheets

World War I Lozenge Sheets

These sheets are designed for all German Night Fighter, Bomber and Reconnaissance Aircraft in service after January 1918. These include Friedrichshafen, Gotha, A.E.G., LVG, SSW, Hannover and Albatros built Staaken aircraft.

These sheets are also applicable to Staaken 'L' Planes 8202 and 8203.

All colors have been meticulously reproduced to the finest industry printing standards and are based on actual Methuen paint chip samples. The color tables used for these decal sheets have been published in a number World War I periodicals over the last 30 years.

Printed by Microscale, our decals offer outsanding accuracy, quality, and price for modelers and enthusiasts alike and are likely to be the most authentic decal sheets ever produced for the discriminating World War I Modeller.

Decal Sheets are 6" X 9" and include marking and placement instructions.

Our first sheet is <Now Available for purchase> This is the Staaken 5 Colour Camouflage seen applied to Albatros and LVG built machines mid 1917 thru 1918.

Sheet No. 1

5-Color Camouflage Staaken Night Bomber Aircraft. . ."

From page 2 a bit more.

I also agree that this would have to be occassions where the lozenges were painted on the finished airframes parts NOT the factory printed fabric. There is no repeat except on the long edges to match sheet applications for area that the decal mybe cut too short for the areas it was fitted for.

The quotation above is from page 1 here. As for the colour intrepretations I'll leave that for Derry Fitzgerald to explain. By the way I have no financial connection to the production of these sheets and have only been asked to review them and their use on plastic kits.

Dan is right for the most part. Even though you tried to correct it, their website is still is representing it as printed fabric. Directly from their site:

Sheet No. 1: 5-Color Printed Night Pattern for Staaken Aircraft

The Gotha style "Printed Fabric" style Lozenge in 5 Colour pattern will also be available this month in single sheet and full Gotha sets designed for the Roden Gotha G. V, Va and Vb kits.

Calling it ' "Printed Fabric" style' is actually very misleading. I even asked them directly in post 13 to clear it up and they ignored the question.
