Calling it ' "Printed Fabric" style' is actually very misleading. I even asked them directly in post 13 to clear it up and they ignored the question.

It's the word "style" that makes it what it is. I still want this stuff* - lozenge options are always welcome - but I know how advertising works too. Where I live (Buffalo), there's a soft tortilla maker that has printed on its tortilla shell packaging the rather funny words "hand-made style." In other words, not hand-made at all.
*er...rather, I would want it if it were 1/48 instead of 1/72.

What makes little sense to me is that describing it accurately wouldn't diminish the quality one bit or invite any crticism. It is what it is: a duplication of hand painted lozenge. What might piss some people off is buying it expecting printed lozenge and then finding out it's not. A knowledgeable modeler may not get confused but a relatively new or learning builder may.
BTW, is the "hand-made style" tortilla anything like "genuine immitation leather?"

I will e-mail Derry again. See if we can include him so future issues won't tend to confuse.

Decal Confusion Cleared up
Hi Everyone,
Steve just called me so I'm sorry I haven't been watching this thread; I just got back fro Ottawa as I was on a research hunt for Northrop Gamma stuff.
For starters, our first release for the Lockheed Series will be the Lindberg Sirius, then moving on to Kingsford-Smith's version. Then we will progress to the Vegas. The Boxart is back so those of you on ARC or WingsofPeace can get a chance to see them if you'll write me in a PM.
Thanks to Steve and Dan who are in the know about 5 Colour Painted Lozenge. For the newcomer or those interested in Staaken Lozenge, let's clear up some confusion.
The Staaken set I have just produced is for replicating the 5 Colour Printed Fabric seen on these aircraft. The confusion here is that most aircraft from this period were finished in a 5 Colour Printed line fabric on the airframe.
What seperates Staakens is that they were camouflaged in a way which REPLICATED the standard shceme. Hence they were PAINTED in wht we will refer to as a "5 Colour PRINTED FABRIC" Scheme to maintain camouflage orthodoxy, if you will.
Our decal sets are made to replicate this scheme and are NOT 5 Colour printed Night Scheme as Mr Abbott maintains, for which he is correct.
We will be producing 5 Colour Printed Night fabric and the sheets should be out within the month. These will be done in 2 seperate patterns; repeating and non-repeating. We will have a special set similar to the Staakens for Gotha G V, Va and Vb aircraft. These sheets are suitable for all aircraft finished in 5 Colour Night Printed fabric;
BUT NOT FOR STAAKENS except the AVIATIK kit by Roden.
By the way Steve, tell Larsa to hold the decal application on the Staaken build until I can send him proper 5 Colour Night Repeating pattern. This was the Scheme used on the Aviatik machine by Roden. The early sheets will not work for this aircrat. I was assuming he had the earlier kit, for which the first decal sets were made. He'll still have lots to do on the engines and the interior so I don't think this will slow down the build any.
I'll update the site when I get a chance and clear a lot of this up there.
Cheers!
Derry

Lozenge fabric
Hi Lars!
Hope you have fun with this. I'll be posting shot of my own build so that should keep up each other's inspiration.
Just wanted to let you know that even the wing struts were lozenged on you Aviatik machine. (Knowing it's an Aviatik machine, it wouldn't surprise me if they even camouflaged the BOMBS!)
I'll send out the new sheets as soon as they're in!
Cheers

Decal Update
Hi folks,
Just as an addendum to the earlier posts concerning decal confusion and the site, that has been updated now. For those of you who were a little confused before, let me explain.
We are producing at least 14 sets of night Lozenge seen on German aircraft in World War I. What we initially meant to say was that we are producing ALL fabrics seen on these aircraft, and that this was Sheet No. 1 of a series of night lozenge camouflage. Not that this sheet was suitable for all aircraft using 5 Colour Night Lozenge.Unfortunately, the header said differently.
What we meant was (For Staakens) for all aircraft "IN THIS SERIES" and that THIS was only Sheet No. 1. We neglected to change the bottom of the header, that's all.
Those in the know knew what we were doing anyway and understood immediately, but I'm glad some of you pointed it out. Happy to clear up the confusion. There is 5 Colour "Printed" Night fabric for Staakens; and then there is 5 Colour "Printed" Night fabric for everyone else!
(Shades of Orwell's 1984!) (Lozenge-Speak!) We see the confusion!
We ARE doing Gotha, the Aviatik, Friedrichshafen fabric in this series, so there will be a better understanding of all of this when all the sheets are out and people can actually see the differences between them.
Be that as it may, for those who have purchased these sets, I have been in contact with everyone to confirm the actual colours and schemes before anyone ordered them to eliminate any doubts. And I can happily say that everyone (Read: ALL) has been very happy with our sets including our reviewers.
I'm also in contact with no less an authority than Ray Rimell and his team to proof our colours and artwork, so everyone can be sure that they are getting the most accurate decal sheets of lozenge fabric ever produced. Can't wait to have the Gotha sheets in! They're going to be beautiful!
Thanks for listening!
