Hope this extract will help in talk. Note the important detail which force me to think about red overpaint cowling. The small area behidd the cowling, partially hidden by strut but the shape and color is clearly visible.

Cheers

Greetings Sreiko; Consider for a moment that the opaque paint on the metal cowling was only "close" in colour to the pigmented translucent dope streaks on the fabric. It may have not been red but simply the green that had a patina of the castor oil exhaust covering the surface. Just a thought.

Thank you Stephen. What about the similar look of the MRV and Voss machine? For the Voss is claimed that it is yellow. I like to hear from you

In my opinion Voss' cowling on 103/17 was green and never yellow. The face characteristics would be lost in real life on a yellow cowling.

One more thought on this MVR cowling issue... As far as I know, all the machines were completely factory-painted in green. It might happen that the red paint was field-applied (and therefore we get "overpainted" look)?
Another idea, that "It may have not been red but simply the green that had a patina of the castor oil exhaust covering the surface" seems unprobable to me - don't believe that the whole area behind the cowling was completely and uniform covered in castor oil...

BTW - nice wood grain, Sreiko! I'd go for the olive green myself - have one 1/72 Eduard 425/17 in stash

All what you have said, as well other members on this topic, is logical. I have day left to determine- red or detoriated green.

Wish you luck with 1/72 kit. I have never seen it but hope it is nice as the larger version is.

First action of streaking is over. Now I will going into the one more coat to give more contrast and more precise match in the regards to the available photographs and information they ofer. Some problems are noted if compared with my previously method used for streaking. Maybe craftsmans was not experienced so lines are not full lenght in some cases and look that they are repeat strokes. In this way I was more use small rounded brush then the flat which I have used in previous project. Some later when this cot complete dry I will repeat strokes. I dillutte paint with nitro thinner so this will be very soon and belive that even today I could be able to spray coat of the underside blue.

Some explanation about the whole settings for the painting- I have place all of the parts on one cardboard. On cardboard you could note two strip of self adhesive tape and this is paint protective tape used in the automotive workshops. Then I have placed parts, first top wing, then elevons, mid wingd, lower wing, tail and undercariage box. This give more advantage in visual control of work as well I start from top wings and going down. Only part which is not fixed is fuselge and I hold it with fingers.... don't ask how my nails look like now

Cheers

You will find that the axle wing was a solid over paint of green on the upper surface and lt. blue on the undersurface.
