Maybe I'm doing something wrong.

Three or four times over the last year, my access to this forum seems to have vaporized. I'll set up an account, everything will be fine for a while, then suddenly - wham! I can't log in, can't post, can only read. Double- and triple-check keystrokes, capslock, etc., no dice. Set up a new account: same story, OK for awhile, then bam! No joy.

And yes, I have set up each account to "remember" me.

Well, this started again recently (I think this is at least my third account here). If I go through my bookmarks to the forum front page, enter through Models, I can read all day but it won't recognize my login (although it only offers me the Logout option).

HOWEVER - if I get to the forum via a response to a previous post, THEN I have full freedom to post and peruse at will. It's like my account is recognized if I access the site through a response, but NOT if I try to come in "through the front door", so to speak.

So what's up with that? Am I doing something wrong? Has anyone else had similar problems? I hate to keep adding accounts, and besides - I'm running out of passwords I can remember! :^)

Any thoughts will be appreciated!

No such experience here.

You may get Scott's (our benevolent webmaster) attention more quickly by taking this to the Support/Problems section near the bottom of all the forum selections. It may be something specific to your machine and/or settings.

Best of luck!

Russ, this exact thing happened to me, running IE on a Mac running system 9.2.
The two really don't like eachother. IE or myself corrupted at least three Browser preferences documents (the advanced kind!) and I had to set up all my proxy helpers, etc, each time. Part of that was that my passwords to the Drome were lost, each time.
On two other occasions, this happened "spontaneously" but I suspect that was a sneak-preview of the aforementioned melt-down. It may be that Mac OS does not like the YABBA dabba do code.

It ain't on Scott, I do not believe...and he prolly can't help you, Mac or no.

My solution was to go to OS10 and Safari, and thus far, no problemo said the man as he passed the 10th window on the way down...

So short-version:
a) your browser
B) your os
c) a wakked directory file (see a & B)
