Stephen, thanks for posting the images I was referring to. As I said, the inclusion of parts for Early and Late Fokker built aircraft really increases the painting options and decal options! Any one who has purchased an earlier Orange box release should have plenty of leftover markings. Lozenge will be the only problem!

Howdy,
I may be hallucinating, but, I swear I read somewhere that the crosses on Goerings all white D-VII were thought to be red. Anybody else remember this?

Hi, Brian,
I've never heard of this before at all. By that time, IIRC, the red cross on a white field was the accepted symbol of the Red Cross movement, and so would not be used by a belligerent on operational equipment such as aircraft. I could be wrong (it has happened in the past, believe me!), but I am certain that Goering's aircraft carried black crosses only.

Hi, Brian,
Now, THAT is an interesting thread! This question ranks right up there with the colour of Lothar's upper wing, and the colour of Voss' cowling! I note that it is mostly "opinion," although very substantial opinion (DSA pretty much knows his stuff) so who's to say for sure after so many years? Ah, you've really got to love this hobby! And Good Luck" with your red-crossed DVII!

Mr. Barrett's comments from the original thread about Görings crate being tarted up at least caused a smile. There must have been something to the crosses being a different colour on that all-white Fokker. But we don't know for sure if it was Göring's or not. I have access to the 147th Aero sqn log and it may be that further clues are there. I'll check. Here is the subject of the kit in question.

Greetings all; due to my travelling about today I got to go out to the Lafayette Foundation archive.
The incident above is indeed listed in the 147th Aero Sqdn log book. There were 4 men on patrol at approx. 6:30pm. Brotherton and Brosnan at 1500m and Jones and Porter at 600m. It was the latter two that saw the formation above them at 1000m (approx.) The same comments are copied in the daily text. ". . .Leader was all-white with what looked like red crosses?. . ."
Though Göring's Schwerin built machine was NOT the only white Fokker D.VII on the western front. We do have images of an all-white Alb. built Fok. D.VII in the hands of the 9th Aero post war.

Not only is that plane Goering's, but it has to be the most boring-looking Fokker I can think of off the top of my head. No build. May buy the kit for something else though.

Does anybody remember ..
A White Fokker DV II with Green Crosses ? i think Revell came out with it in the 70's .
Personally i don't see the Germans using red crosses on there aircraft but i would bet on them outlining them in red .
