I was just viewing "Dawn Patrol" and was once again struck by the very dramatic airfield attack sequence. Very prominent are some chequered Standard J1s in german markings. I still think these are b&w chequers despite the NASM DXII movie ship's red and white finish.

Any old how, I got to looking for J1 refs and found this:


It's a model ref and includes building notes for a flying model kit, which is why I posted it here rather than upstairs in Aircraft
