yes, Chris

the wing plantform is ok - the trailing edges need to be thinned down: this operation will ruin the rib detail, so it's better to tone down all the ribs thinning down the trailing edges and then restore the ribs with thin strips (evergreen 0,5 mm sanded after application or decal stris on a future base)
The number of the ribs is right for the proposed versions (there were other two variants, the first had the same wingspan, but fewer ribs and the last variant M-5 mod had a shorte wingspan and fewer ribs, the same wing of the M-7)

best regards

Blue Max as announced a Macchi M.5 for 2009

I recently read the Blue Max intends to issue a Macchi M.5. Might be closer to th GA drawings and easier to obtain - if one can wait.

I love this subject. This 1/48 looks good to me, to be honest, not that I'm an expert though. Not to derail the thread, but is anyone aware of a 1/72 scale version one?

Pegasus made one in 1/72, but other than that, I'm not sure.

While I am finding the over all dimensions are not bad, I am disappointed in the fact that there is not any provision in the kit for a beaching dolley. Not even any rough drawings or templates for the hull profile to scratchbuild one.
