Fly 1/48 Macchi M.5

Has anyone seen this kit or know anything about the manufacturer? I saw it on the GMW website.

Raymond Manders has taken a glimpse to the box:

[WWI] WWI Digest, Vol 57, Issue 8

Does not sound too good.

I think that I will pass.

I don't mind a challenging kit, but I don't want to pay that much for one.

I got mine yesterday for 22EUR.

Retail price is about 27EUR. in Czech online shops.

Luchwaart has some absurd prices.

I picked up one of the standard decal version kits from a vendor in Brussels.

I have read about some inacuracies, especially in the wings, specifically the number of rib and sub-ribs.

I'm not that worried about it, though....looks like an M5 and that's good enough. I can generally deal with minor issues so long as the overall model looks like what it's supposed to. I'm no rivet counter, so I usually only correct major flaws.

I will probably just give the wings a sanding to tone down the ribs and call it a day.

The rest is pretty nice...the resin looks good and the plastic is high pressure molded (small sprue gates), but has some injector pin tower marks here and there to remove, all in spots that don't matter. Think a modern Classic Airframes kit. The kit looks like it'll build fine.

Even the regular boxing gives some colorful marking options.

I'm a bit biased, though, since I really dig flying boats.

I can't remember what I paid for it...I think it was in the 20-30 euro range.

Mine arrived recently from Modelimex. Special markings box. Mine was about 44.00USD shipping & all. As Chris sighted about the details. I am dubious but will check out the details in a few days.

Thanks Mark for posting that link.

That was an intensly beautiful little piece of film. When the plane came away from the surface of the lake, I will admit, I shed a tear.

There could not have been a dry eye at the lake.

Cheers,

Hugh
