Howdy,

Over at Cybermodeler they have announced a September release for the 1/48 SPAD XIII from Eduard. It is also mentioned in the August (non English)newsletter on Eduards' site .

Now this (depending on how the marketting gurus at Eduard try to stuff us about) will almost definitely be a recent Eduard release that I will invest in.

So far, since the Camel, nothing has floated my boat enough to justify the expense of recent Eduard boxings (I saw that Der Rotte Flieger is AU$130 retail here (there was an example at my local IPMS meeting last night)).
That price cannot be justified in my opinion.

I don't think so they can retool some of there older kits or they could expand into 1/32nd and there are plenty of subjects that have not been done properly in a modern way such as a Halberstadt or a Seiman schuckerts i hope i spelled that right

Also if you read the Eduard newsletter it says that alot of work was put into the engineering of the Spad so i don't believe this is there last .This is also a kit that i will be getting along with the Early version they plan on producing next

Thats like building the Chinese wall in a week... it ain't gonna happen over a weekend for the DH.2, well, not for me anyways.

That's straight from the horse's -- er, Vlad's -- mouth at the Kansas City IPMS nats. No new engineering effort on WWI kits, he thinks they've shot their best volley in that department, and want to focus on newer aircraft and different scales. Mind you, I was trying to convince him to scale up the D.VII kits to 1/32 at the time. (Not that easy, he says.)

Guys,

I saw the test shot for this kit at the Nats a few weeks ago in Va. beach. (Everything, that is, except for the fuselage.) It looks really nice, as you would expect. Vlad told me that the kit should be available here in the states in Sept. and the early built Spad 13 will be released in early 2009. I also asked about a possible Royal class kit for the Spad and he didn't think that would happen, but he didn't rule out a combo set. I for one would love to see a Spad and 1/48 balloon combo set. That would be HOT!

With "The Stand" being so anticipated anyone care to wager that one scheme will be Luke's? The timing and all for the kit is interesting. The AEF started receiving their SPAD XIII types at this time in 1918. I wonder if this will include a "generic" Hisso as well? Adding that and sticking with plastic struts, and more than one propeller profile is typical for Eduard. I just hope they get the wing tip profiles correct from all angles. DML is the only one that has done that so far. Mr. Carricks drawings are spot on thanks in a large part to Alan Toelle.

Unlikely I'd say. As they did not include a RR eagle in their Brisfit kits, and that engine is far more visable.
