color traced test 2

traced number 2 is with the same colors as the lozenge .. so there are 2 colors blended at each edge using 46% transparent and spacing @ 3 this is like the real colors mixed at the edges but darken some and is scaled 400% bigger and saved and when i was finished i saved then rescaled it down do you like test 1 or 2 ???? 1 is the last test you liked ,,,and i stuck the old trace in for comparison i need input from you all ... Aircraft lifespan??

Gentlemen:
Flug Werke, your observation is correct, modeller make too much of weathering.
1. Sunlight in northern France is not as intense as most places on the eastern USA.
2. It rains almost every day.
3. Attrition rates on the western front of British and German units was 50% on quiet fronts and 100% on active fronts. It would been slightly better opposite the French. So at that rate all aircraft would be replaced every month on active front and every two months on quiet fronts. During the major battles of 1918 attrition rates approach 200 % per month. The aircraft had hardly the time in service to loose the new smell. In the intensive Battle of the Somme Bridges, in August 1918, in the Somme, the Richthofen Geschwader, was reduced to less than a Jasta in strength, in less than one week!
Blue skies,
Dan-San

Interior Versus Exterior Flugzeugstoff

I like "TEST 1 BLENDED TRACED" FOR THE EXTERIOR.
I like "OLD TRACED" or "TEST 2 COLOR TRACED" for the interior.
"OLD TRACED" seems a little more vibrant out of the two and "TEST 2 COLOR TRACED" seems a little more subtle. Either one works for me, I like them both.

I also agree with THE GREAT WALDO, (Andrew) that the colors should be factory fresh. They can be varnished "Yellow" or weathered to the individual's desires.

About a year ago, I started a thread that featured an auction on ebay. It contained a piece of Flugzeugstoff that had the "TRACE", "STAINED GLASS EFFECT", or "OVERLAP". I asked if it was legitimate or bogus (something to that effect), as I had never seen this "TRACED" (interior) effect before. I don't remember receiving an answer.
I now believe that they were only showing the interior side as it probably had more vibrant colors than the aged exterior side. If I am right, previous interior decals were a little Greyed when they should have been more vibrant than the exterior. After seeing Gary Sewall's Fokker D.VII piece, both sides, I believe this to be true. Dan-San will remember the costly offer on ebay as he offered up three pieces from his collection during the discussion.

Keep up the great job.

One of your several admirers, Jay
