#2 "Stone Gray" and your color look like a pretty damn good match to me!
Your colors look brighter than his, which is good for our purposes.

#3 "Dark Blonde" looks like Wheat Straw to me and yours might have a tad more Ocher... Close enough?

#4 "Gray-Red" looks more Mauve to me (a touch of Blue tint over yours) and yours looks more Salmon Pink to me.

That's what I see!

I don't have a proper Color Chart with correct Color Names on it in front of me, so that is the best I can do to describe what I see here (my interpretation!).

Thanks, Jay

P.S. This is what I see after reaquainting myself after the St. Valentines Aerodrome Site Shutdown!

I am real happy to hear that!
It's good to see you smile again, twice at that! I'll bet with out the meds this time.

I don't know about two different variations on the four color lower...Who knows? Not much surprises me. It doesn't hurt to have a choice.

We have enough colors now for all kinds of different colored rib tapes.... Blue, Salmon, and Purple for starts.

Keep up the good werke, Jay

Looking at this, your earlier colors look spot-on, except that they were too Greyed or White Cloudy.

Dear FOk J

I used those earlier color tests for the lower to make a Decal Print Test.

I lightened it a little and increased the contrast slightly for the print and contary to how the photos represent it in the low light they came out excellent. I made them match the brightness of the upper Loz Decal teast I did. I repreints some of the upper 4 color you can see the re-prints on the Right Elevator the rest fo the Horzontial stab was done using an earlier printing of the upper 4 which came out a little darker. I think my printer was slightly low on ink for the re-print.

But it shows how many varitations there are which go into a actual Decal print.

FOrgive the crude application I was in a hurry to make pictures and not spend lost of time trimming them. THey were a bit thick to dela with due to the extra layers of Decal solution applied to them. ANd the Acrylic Clear Fixentent Spary aplication was key to fixing the inks so they didnt wash off in the water and while handling them wet.

There is plenty of greenish grey lower tests here to make suit everyones tastes. It is completely different.

I didnt make the exact correct colors on the AMG correction print I made up there. Thats why I printed a list of the COrrect Color NAmes on top of if which is why the grey there looks a little greenish becuase I was placing it on top of AMG's Dark Green Loz's.

BUt heck to each there own here. Its very easy form ALL of Dougs tests here to print what and how you would like it to turn out.

Putting them to Decal paper is hard. Because handing them exceessively can make them rub the ink off. Useing a CLear decal sheet makes them too opquaue which is a problem because they lose too much color. Also if you over lap decal edges it darkens them into a visable seam. NOT liek a stiched seam you might be thinking of.

BUt varying the gamma/contrast and brightness will defintately give you accuarte looking good 4 color loz here to apply.

soon as I have the chance my Roden DVI is coming off the shelf and a new EV build will be on my table.

Tell you what to me these new Doug Test Alternatives to AMG color based AM Decals are a VAST IMPROVEMENT in accuarcy and something really to work with to customize to personal tastes.

I know we all prefer commercial produced decals but it isa little more involoved than it looks. Meantime I thin k these will work out fine for me in the meantime.

Here these are the Orignal AMG Lower 4 color Decals and a Laser Print test of the Upper 4 color based on AMG's Original Uppper 4 color.

Yours Mike

Good Job Mikey! :)

I really like what you have done with this one:

It turned out nice!

Cheers, Jay

P.S. If you do the "Stand Back and See" test, it looks fine, but I still prefer the Sage Green color.

AMG Used to Hand Print his Decals with Silk Screen. I think if you stare at his orignal Lower you might see where he was trying to get grey there. But I am sure he had simialr problems matching inks to the technicly correct hues.

Plus as a matter of taste I am sure its more than possible to use any of the later DOuug Lower 4 tests which have a greenish tinge to the grey to USe those instead.

Deeply apreciate the compliment. I think they will look great on a Kit. THAT will be the next project. Working with large Decals is an exersice in itself.

I learned adding ELmers White glue to the Water you use to slide the Decals off with helps alot to fix them to the project permently. Its water soluable and disolves right in. I usually add enough to make it couldy/ Skim Milky in color. It dosent interefere with Microsol solutions or disturb the colors in anyway.

I didnt take time here to do a nice job of applying them. I just wated as you adaptly describe "the Stand-Off Look" Test.

I had Battle Axe Insructions that showed laying the Loz Fabric on a 10 degree off set from ceterline as they printed thier Decals in Fabric Bolt Diamensions too.

BUt Iam afraid some experts never heard of such a thing. I think I need to check with FOKKER-TEAM-SCHORNDORF Aircraft restorers to see how they do it least it was already covered on the Drome long ago and I missed it.

Yours mIkey
