Naval hexagon.
Doug:
The naval hex dimensions are 200 x 155mm 8"x 6 1/8" and slope 5 degrees.
The colors are too bright. They are grey-brown, grey-blue and grey-violet.
The brown is the dominant color. It is too red, move to the orange range. If the brown is 100 in value the grey-blue and grey violet are 80 in value.
In the thread that Hal Oele started, and he an MT were banned is a piece of the Naval 3 color fabric was posted. It will give you the colors.
The 1918 Day Five Color Upper Intermediate and 1917 Lower Patterns in posts #2 and #3 are correct, in my opinion.
The 1918 Four Color Day Upper and Lower Patterns in post #7 and #8 in my opinion are correct.
What is needed is the 1917 Day/Night upper pattern and the 1918 Night very dark Pattern. That will complete the Luftstreitkräfte printed fabrics.
Doug send me you snail mail address and I'll send you some color chips.
Blue skies,
Dan-San

Painted and Printed Naval Hex Sizes in Inches

The following is what I see from the above high-lights:
Painted = 15 Centimeters side length with a 30 Centimeter Diameter or Height
Printed = 15.5 Centimeter Width, 10.0 Centimeter length, and a 20.0 Centimeter Diameter or Height.
Painted 150mm x 300mm
2nd Print 100mm x 200mm
Thanks, Jay

I cleaned the junk out of the above for clarity.

That sounds big! Off the top of my head 1mm = 0.040" (close enough for Horseshoes....and "Old Ladies"! : )

I have looked again at the above figures and this is what I see:
" Painted = 15 Centimeters side length with a 30 Centimeter Diameter or Height" = 6" x 12" (6" side length with 12" O.A.H. (over all height or diameter))
" Printed = 15.5 Centimeter Width, 10.0 Centimeter length, and a 20.0 Centimeter Diameter or Height." or 10.0 Centimeter length, and a 20.0 Centimeter Diameter or Height = 4" x 8" (4" side length with an O.A.H. or diameter of 8" ( with or with out the 5 degree slant)). Of course the Over All Width will change (grow) with the 5 degree slant, these dimensions are square and would adjust for any angle of slant.
Best Wishes, Jay

Naval Hex Color Swatches
Gentlemen,
I have taken color samples of the piece of fabric from Hal Oele's thread and created a color swatch test. These colors range from light, to medium, to dark for each of the 3 colors. Maybe Dan can be the deciding factor as to which actually represents the most correct shade of each.
You can refer to them as:
grey-brown (light)
grey-blue (medium)
grey-violet (dark) etc.
Thanks Doug for all your work and relentless dedication!

Hey Doug Ive been mute on the whole Navel portion here because I am not familar.
But WOW I am impressed with this very last Test youve posted. I think it looks like a GREAT representation of the Darker Brown and matching Violet and Grey blue. I think it follows exactly DSA's comment that the brown was the doamint color and his advise on color shift to correct it.
While I am not an Expert Id really have to say for myself that looks SPOT On Baby !! I am saving this one for sure.
Good enough for me when I build ny First 32nd W4 Float plane (AS SOON AS RODEN or an AM Kit MAker Releases one ? )
YOurs mIke
