Greetings Mr. Baumann (Doug),

I don't remember where you are at on the "Lozenge Decals for All", but did a little research on the Austro-Hungarian hex.
There are so many variations in size and shape.

The best measurement that I have come up with to start with is
14 25/32" or 14.78", I just rounded it off to 14.75" (with in a 1/32"!).
This measurement is across the flats, not point to point!

This is for the symmetrical Hex, not the elongated or stretched Hex.
It is also for the Aviatik built machine.

I could find four different manufacturers of the Aviatik D.I with a total of at least five variations:
Aviatik, Lohner, WKF, and Thöne & Fiala.
Each one is slightly different from what I have read in the exhaustive research by Dr. Martin D. O'Connor.

This should be enough to get us started.
Please let me know if and when you are ready for any further assistance.
Sorry that this took me so long to locate this information, but I have it readily available for any future reference.
I know that you are just dying to start on the elongated Hex!

Thanks again for all of your hard work on this project.

Best Wishes, Jay

There should not be any tracing on these as they were hand painted.
Of course anything is possible since no two are perfectly alike and will require individual decals printed for each different machine!

Just kidding, I believe that is where "Wild Card" colored hexes come in to take care of variations. That and the tails (rudder & fin) seem to often only have two colors of Hex on them.
It just doesn't get much more entertaining.... Does it?

P.S. I lost my original post and see that I forgot to add:

"A very attractive color scheme (EYE CANDY!) by our own Jerry Boucher."
