Hi Doug,

Right, as in over painting (not staying within the lines!). It still wouldn't be consistantly repetitious, but would be on a case by case basis.
Maybe a separate area like "Wild Cards"!

It would depend on how severe it was.

Cheers, Jay

P.S. Since you have probably read my last post before have I edited it and added a P.S., you might want to check it out.

Here it is:

"P.S. Have you ckecked the size?
Did the measurements I provided check out?"

Don't forget "WILD CARDS"!

The image on the lower left looks like it is painted on cloth.
Yes I see the "tracing".
I like the way that you have copied the consistency of the colors not being applied solidly, the paint's saturation is not evenly applied.

In fact, both of the images on the left look like they are painted on cloth!

HI JAY i am trying also lol lol all photos were from fuselages !! i believe it was from stippling effects like the AEG''s 6 color hex , but know i thank i am on the right track with both A-H and German mottled hex . .... yes Jay i have checked the size and thank your right or at least close the big thing is to make the hex or lozenge as big as you can and scale them down to the size you need , most of the lozenge were made bigger then 1/28 scale and i just scale them down ... Doug

PERSONALY ... YES !! Id say you were SPOT ON for the AH Hex.

You have developed an Amazing EYE for creating this stuff and WE ALL owe a great debt of Gradiute.

If not for your open source work here there simply would be a block hole of working examles of these prints. !!

I think it s great. Cant wait to see it !! Are you building one ?

Yours mIke

A/H Hex Patterns

Here is another Artist's interpretation:

Fall of the Eagle - WWI Aviation Art Gallery

Looking good!

Some of the colors look a little bright to me, but otherwise this is looking great!

I will probably have a better feel when you do some decal patterns in the different "Band Widths" and "Light and Dark" colors.

Dr. Martin O'Connor states that "Band Width - the lighter and darker hexagon groupings or bands varied in width from three to seven hexagons."

Also that these were in groups of "Light fuselage bands, Dark fuselage and wing bands, and Light wing bands."

With the Hex flat sides, top and bottom (Points, left and right), he gives us these pattern:

He has the Light fuselage bands as:

"L(light) = 1 = Pale Grey (21B1)
M(medium) = 2 = Orange grey (5B3)
D(dark) = 3 = Terra Cotta (7D7)"

***D******D********************3*******3
L******L********************1*******1
***M******M*********OR*********2*******2
D*****D*********************3*******3
***L*******L********************1*******1
M*****M********************2*******2

"Dark fuselage and wing bands:

L(light) = 1 = Terra Cotta (7D7)
M(medium) = 2 = Prussian Blue (21F7)
D(dark) = 3 = Olive (3F6)

***D******D********************3*******3
L******L********************1*******1
***M******M*********OR*********2*******2
D*****D*********************3*******3
***L*******L********************1*******1
M*****M********************2*******2

"Light wing bands:

1 = Terra Cotta (7D7)
2 = Orange Grey (5B3)
3 = Olive (3F6)
4 = Blue (21B6)

****3******3*******3
2*******2*******2*******2
****1*******1*******1
4*******4*******4*******4
****2*******2*******2
1*******1*******1*******1
****3*******3*******3
4*******4*******4*******4
****1*******1*******1
2*******2*******2*******2
****4*******4*******4

Then we need to add the "WILD CARD" Hexagons.
These are randomly distributed amongst the Light and Dark patterns, in small quantity. The colors given are:

"Pale Turquoise (24A3) and
Greyish Blue (23B4)"

A/G had these Wild Cards on the side of their decal sheet for the modeler's discretion.

Have fun, Jay aka FOKKERJ

P.S. I hope that this is a help.
