HI Jay !!i have O Conner's book ! and i am using the Methuen book of colors as a guide so all are made from that !! the light color band looks light to me in the black and white drawing thou ! is that what your talking about ?? i have to make the darker banding seven hexes wide because then you only have one down load of that color instead of 12. 30 deg's left 30 deg's right hexes flat to the bottom, squashed hex 30 left and right and the lozenge looking hex per band. you didn't say any thing about the medium color band's.
as far as the wild card it will be there, but buy it's self so the modeler can put them were he or she thanks best as you said
I have some problems,, for instance on the 30 deg slant left once the hex's reach the top of the fuselage dose it slant to the left on the other side or doze it slant to the right i need photo evidence of this but i don't have a photo of a DI of both left or right sides NO DRAWING PLEASE my thought's are because it would be easier in my mind left slant to the top then right slant to the bottom do you know ??? i have not read any thing on this .. O Conner's dark pattern is incomplete it is one hex off why he did this i don't know,but it would not repeat vertically !! i fix it, now it repeats in all directions !! Thanks Jay
Doug

Slow down there buddy.... What are you talking about?
OK, I went back and researched this, The medium color band should fall into the description of the Three Band's descriptions that I gave as they all three have different colors assigned to each of them.
Does this help?

I will look into this matter and hopefully come up with some evidence to support my theory that it does indeed "Spiral" or continue on in a helical manner. I don't agree that it produces a "Chevron" effect where it meets on the center-line of the fuselage top.
That would be too easy!

Dr. Martin O'Connor states that "Band Width - the lighter and darker hexagon groupings or bands
varied in width from three to seven hexagons."
Also that these were in groups of "Light fuselage bands, Dark fuselage and wing bands, and Light wing bands."
With the Hex flat sides, top and bottom (Points, left and right), he gives us these pattern:
He has the Light fuselage bands as:
"L(light) = 1 = Pale Grey (21B1)
M(medium) = 2 = Orange grey (5B3)
D(dark) = 3 = Terra Cotta (7D7)"
"Dark fuselage and wing bands:
L(light) = 1 = Terra Cotta (7D7)
M(medium) = 2 = Prussian Blue (21F7)
D(dark) = 3 = Olive (3F6)
"Light wing bands:
1 = Terra Cotta (7D7)
2 = Orange Grey (5B3)
3 = Olive (3F6)
4 = Blue (21B6)
Then we need to add the "WILD CARD" Hexagons.
These are randomly distributed amongst the Light and Dark patterns, in small quantity.
The colors given are:
"Pale Turquoise (24A3) and
Greyish Blue (23B4)"
A/G had these Wild Cards on the side of their decal sheet for the modeler's discretion.
Have fun, Jay aka FOKKERJ
P.S. I hope that this is a help.

Apparently he is stating that two each of these three colored bands are used on the fuselage,
only one of the two is used exclusively on the fuselage and not the wings, and that the other one from the fuselage added with the third are used on the upper flying surfaces,
with the third only used on these flying surfaces.
So that is like #1 & #2 on the fuselage and #2 & #3 on the wing's upper surfaces.
Make sense?
I certainly hope so, Ollie.
Let me know what you think about this.
Keep up the Great Job!
Cheers, FOKKERJ

All right.... 71 page of topic and I have never seen any info about the same color used in print by Germans! Name, structure, composition or so on. Impossible to talk about color based on the aged samples which is also rapidly changed during its operational life.

Ya, what he said!
Hi Sreiko,
It's good to hear from you.
I couldn't agree more, but until the ol' Time Machine is up and running I guess we will just amuse ourselves while we wait!
Hey Doug check this out:
Post Nr. 187

I know it's just a cartoon, but I thought that you could familiarise yourself with the "Cork-Screw" effect!

My Thoughts On Camouflage and Markings
Hi Doug,
As to the accuracy of these camouflage patterns, all I can say is what I have previously shared with Dan-San;

My main stumbling block has always been researching correct camouflage and markings, but I have grown less anal retentive about that (about 1% less than I use to be! ). I now believe that no matter what I build that someone will come out with new facts as soon as I am finished!

I find these truths to be self evident.... that's my story and I'm sticking to it!
