Hi Rob,

I was just speaking about the 1/32 figures...

I have bought the 1/72 figures some times ago, and there are very fine.

Ah.

Now with 1/32 I can see the problems.

Preiser do make some, but I don't know how amenable they'd be to customization.

Highslide JS

You'd have to add a lot of sculpting, etc., wouldn't you?

US$37 for 15 figures brings them to the same price range as the PJ productions figures.

Dear Rob

I think you might have glanced at the PJ Production SIte too quickly ? Yes there are two figures pictures on the Home page but this is to decpict that that these are his new Seated 32nd Scale Figures. They in fact are 10.50 Euro Each ? Thats almost $15.00 US depending on the time of day and Current Currency Exchange Rates.

That's not only right in line with market prices for individual After Market Large Scale Figures it actually on the lwer end of the price range say in comparison for instance just off the top of my head Modell Cell's new Standing WWI Pilot Figure Relesae which costs upwards of $22. Each.

Either way Iam sure Price is not an Issue ?

What is absolutely unqiue and note worthy is the fact these are the First 32nd Scale Size WWI Seated Pilot Figures available in the Market.

It is a Milestone Event in WWI Modeling progress of historical note. Before Vacform kits 32nd WWI in effect didnt exist prior to 2000 except say for Hobbycraft/Acdademy's Ni17 and Early Camel Releases.

Early in 2001 Battleaxe broke out with this subject and scale in the Limited Run special release Resin Kits rising up from an Aftermarket Background.

Over the years Since, Special Hobby has jumped in with a 32nd Ni11 and Morane-Sulnier, Hobbcraft/Academy with SPADXIII, DrI and two New toooled Camels AND of Course the Award Winning Roden line nearing almost a Dozen relases soon.

In keeping with Modern Kits all of which come with out figures much less a Seated Pilot.

It was understandable perhaps in the past that there never were any Seated Pilot Figures for these planes but today there are a lot of different models to which these can be applied were before as bad as you might have wished for a Pilot figure for the Cockpit there were NONE avaialble for sale.

I truley believe all of us who love this Era of Plastic Model Planes in this scale and like me who love to have a figure at the controls OWE a great debt of graditude to Philppe who bothered to take the leap of faith to spent his efforts to create them.

Most often the Lack of AfterMarket PE/Resin figures and for that matter manufactured Kits in WWI is due in part to a very realistic percieved impression by the professional After Market Artists and Manufactures is that the INterest and therefore Hobby Dollar in WWI is Very Limited and hence Low Volume.

I say so out of a few years of persoanl experience providing encouragement and sideline campaigining and cheering to as many Manufatuers and AfterMarket Markers as I could reach to make MORE larger Scale WWI ACFT and products !!!

I think it was awefully Brave for a small company like PJ to divide their attention to creating a product specificly for us. My sincere hope is his skepticism and doubt in the strength. popularity and demand of the WWI Market will be replaced with suprise, support and Sales so that even more and more and more will be more likely to come much sooner !!

Ground Crew/Wing Walkers and Mech's figure in 32nd is My Next Personal Dream !

FOr NOW I'll Settle for these Pilots I can work with to make OOB and/or Modify and Paint for these Kits !!

Iam Personally looking forward to trying Painting their eyes first and Filling in the Goggles with Testors Crystal Clear Window Cement/Maker ?

Not to mention Holding my Roden Se5a in my hand with a RFC Pilot at the controls, filling up the Cockpit with Smoke and waving it around in the Air as I run around the room going: Burrrrrrrrrrrooooooooooom, Ack Ack Ack Ack, Eeeeeeeeeoooooooooooorrrrrrmmmmmmmm !

Yours Mike

Mike:

Thanks for the detailed reply. And I see your point completely.

I did, indeed look at the PJs site and reply too quickly.

I am half way through decorating my guest room in a WW1 theme, with sky and cloud painted ceiling!

I'll be hanging my models up one by one, as I finish, and I have been looking around for pilot figures. I'm only looking at 1/48 and 1/72 (at the moment!), and I did think about the excellent figures from CSM, and PJ.

Then money became extremely scarce, so I had to look for cheaper alternatives, and that led me to the railway figures, and the cheap DDS set.

Since all that will be seen is the top third of a small man from around 8-10 feet below, I feel that the HO figures would work for me.

I do understand that with the level of detail involved in 1/32 (as well as prices) and the fact that a diorama settings so tempting, that more accurate figures would be desirable.

But even then, a quick look through the available railway accessories can bring up some pleasant surprises, painters, mechanics, horses, workshop buildings, welders, crates, barrels etc. all of which could be used.
