1/8 Sopwith Camel Masterpiece!

Another absolute modeling masterpiece by Mr. Robert Karr (The Fine Art of Aviation/Robert Karr, Artist) - a 1/8 Sopwith Camel F.1 using the REPLICRAFT (About Replicraft) Sopwith Camel Plan Set of drawings. In the top view, note the smaller inset photo of Fred Murrin's full size Camel for detail comparison - a model of astonishing detail and accuracy!

Proud New Owner,
Gary Sewall

Inspiring!

Would it be worth getting the Replicraft plans when building the Hasegawa 1:8 plane(s). That way one could make the necessary corrections. What do y'all think?

YES! Not only worth it, but necessary if one is to end up with a model that resembles Camel innards at all. The Replicraft plans, plus all the photos one can find.
My wife has been bothering me lately to start a "blog". Yeah, right- just what the world needs another ******* blog. There's something about this blogging thing that eludes me. But at her urging, I've made a few tentative experimental entries, nothing worth drawing attention to.
I've been thinking maybe I could use this "blog" thing to explain some of what I did on those big Camel models. I shot some WIP photos along the way, and for the time being, I remember some of the processes!
We'll see.........

This is a beautiful model.

There's nothing wrong with a blog if you have something to say or share, which you obviously do!

(I wonder if one could make a 1/8-scale Camel out of two 1/16-scale Camel kits?)

Of course it works like that...I'm collecting 1/48 triplanes to eventually build a full scale Dr.I.....

Great work, Robert. Looks fantastic. Is it based on the Hasegawa kit or is it scratched? Either way, it's amazing.

And good score picking it up, Gary.
