After a cursing soldering week-end at a modelling fair, with many start-overs (and two burnt fingers), here is the only Vickers I will build. The Felixstowe was equipped with Levis MGs

For the exhibition I presented my workbench like this. Many delighted people enjoyed looking inside the model through the magnifyers

The finished Vickers, devoid of paint, as a set of 15 parts soldered "with love" (= many expletives)

In aviation, flexibility is't enough. You must be fluid.

That Vickers is a work of art!
I have the 1/48 Part Vickers set. Lets hope I can do as well with the larger scale as you have with the smaller.

Cheers,

Hugh.

What the heck can these small brass parts be for ?
Highslide JS

I intend to replace the MG struts with home-made brass parts.

Wow!
My first impression was that the material here is over scale, but then I realised just how small it all is.

Wow!

Cheers,

Hugh

This weekend was for assembling (i.e. soldering) the new gun struts. I built also one of the six Lewis MGs, from original Roden parts and PE from PART.

Two 0.15mm holes received the PE parts. I glued the ammo box with CA.

All three weapons side-by-side

The Lewis on its strut aboard the Felixstowe.

I need to weather the parts a little.

Superb craftsmanship and finesse. And you have not been slow in reaching this stage of production either.

I glued both MG struts, after having weathered them somewhat to show a rusty wear from salt water.

Then I sliced open the two slots (right above the struts) where the control cables will exit the body.

The upper body part is than taped to check everything.

First Day Off

Here is what I try to replicate. The fuel pumps.
Highslide JS

Soldering is not going to be easy...
Highslide JS

A real porcupine nest!
Highslide JS

The result: the front side...
Highslide JS

... and rear side.
Highslide JS

I nearly forgot: everything is scratch-built, except the propellers, which are PART parts.
