Oil paintings can be very "artistic" in their interpretation of color and detail. Did he say anything about the color?

RAGIII Check also Cross & Cockade Intl. Vol. 17 #2 P.68. *The same photo is discussed there with Coppens' signature.
Sorry I do not have this issue. It looks as though there is a lot of leeway on these aircraft. By the way is HD6 visible in the photo?

I concur, However Dan says that Baron Coppens said it was Turqoise Blue. Perhaps RAF roundel Blue/ Belgian Roundel yellow?

RagIII:
Willy wrote the "Days on the Wing" himself, It is not "ghostwritten. In the book on page 215, Willy wrote, "At last on the 18th, but it was a reconditioned Hanriot No.6 of ther family. It had been recovered at Beaumaurais (Calais), where they camouflaged it in an asinine fashion. It was the French 5 color camouflage scheme. Willy detested that camouflage scheme, he called it "crick-crack". In 1972 we talked about it at length. In this conversation he said it was turquoise. He then showed me the painting by R.Carlin), He pointed to the caption at the bottom of the painting, and he said "See it states it was turquoise!"
On page 216, Willy wrote, : "At the first opportunity, I had my machine painted blue all over."
Oddly, in the painting, the color of the Hanriot No.6 looks more blue that turquoise.
On page 258 he again refers to his, ....."all-blue" machine....
I have accept what Willy states, it was turquoise!
I can offer the following color codes, Methuen 24B7, Fed.Std. Table VII, color code 35193 and Pantone 320C. These are close approximation of the color of Willy's Hanriot HD1 No.6
Blue skies,
Dan-San

Dan, Thank you very much for the references on the color of this Aircraft! This will decidedly help in the Build!! I for one appreciate the accessibility of an Historian of your Merit!
