Corrugation

I am planning to build this model. After I thin down the interior walls, I am going to restore the corrugation by adding a thin piece of molded plastic and then build up the framework with styrene strip. The method I will use to make the corrugation is to make a silicone mold of a portion of the fuselage. Into this mold, a thin layer of plumber's medium body ABS black glue will be brushed. This type of glue is like liquid styrene.
Where can I obtain a copy of Cockpit #1?

I believe that it was available at one time through Squadron Signal mail order.

To all; I have to come clean with you all as Doug Baumann discovered my trick. The rib structure in the wings of my model are going in to help support the spars as the travel through the fuselage. So they are actually acting as braces for the wing spars. Once they are attached you won't see the ones in the wings. They are not on the original aircraft. Sort of like using alignment pins on fuselage halves.

I was cheating a bit to set the spars at the right angles to pass through the fuselage. /x\x/x\x/x\ So when you look in the cockpit it will all look right.

The braces in the wings being "x" and the possible spars being "/ \ /".

Not a problem Doug. The truth is the truth. We modelers have to fudge a bit at times in order not to build a whole kit from scratch.

Greetings all;

Just a bit of clarification.

Highslide JS

The Junkers D.I wings don actually have wing ribs. The truss and support that runs the chord of the wing root is accurate. Since the Junkers D.I "kit" has the wing root and the wing molded in one part I added the truss sections. When united they won't be seen but will help lay the smaller truss works that form as the spars.

also note there is no wing ribs inside the wing ! the 7 spars and the over lap of the corrugated skin makes a rib of sorts riveted from the leading to the trailing edge of the wing i would thank that there are rivets a long the spars span wise {i thank}

There are also diagonal strips of metal seen between the truss works and the skin. The "Flight" report is most helpful in this arena. Doug B. and SteveS were kind enough to point me in the right direction. Just having the images is all well and good, but the text explains so much of what you are seeing.

Hi Stephen,
Nice job as usual, but to answer your question on why I don't build this kit and post photos... I already built the Blue Max kit around 10 or 15 years ago! Sure the Roden kit is much nicer out of the box but I'm satisfied with my old school one and have too many Fokkers, Nieuports & Spads to build to redo another Junkers (but if Roden or Eduard comes out with a J.1 I would be the first in line to get one to replace the old Lone Star resin one still unassembled in the closet!)
