Great work so far with the engine & bearers. One thing to note - the inner panels of the forward fuselage were not wood, I saw a photo of the restoration of the Memorial flight Spad XIII and the inner panels were painted the French bluish-gray color as you used on the fuel tank next to the seat. I believe these panels were sheet metal therefore needed painting to prevent corrosion.

Hi Dave.

Thank you for your words.

I'm using Memorial Flight Association to make that and visible colours on photographs to paint it.

It could be painted in grey blue but I dont know...and we can not see them into the kit.

Great start on this one, Huberlu - I really enjoyed the Berg as well!

The primer you describe as a grey-blue was, I believe a much brighter colour.

When I visited La Ferte Alais earlier this year I was quite surprised by the brightness of the blue metal primer on the Spad XIII they have there. I was assured that it was authentic. The colour is actually very similar to the colour of the floor in the photo in your last post. If you look at the Sopwith 1 1/2 strutter being built on the Memorial Flight website you'll see a lot of that colour in evidence.

The strut brackets show the colour quite well, although in natural light it is an even brighter blue:

Hi Rowan,

You are right. Blue is very bright. Memorial Flight Association - Archives (on your left) - Teintes français de 1914-1918 basé sur des échantillons d'origines. show a colour chart for WW1 paint.

Always slower:

I returned the edges of the opening more slim and added some raidisseurs in metal and pieces of plastic.

Some pieces of copper and tin:

The plate in alu (too big here) comes from a dish to industrial pie:

The reservoir was repainted in grey more " blue " and the handle in red for 1918 " dump valve" (vide-vite). Blue is not so blue on my kit...

Greetings huberlu; Excellent build. Have you ever built the 1/48 DML Spad XIII kit?
