Steve,

OK, I see what you mean. On my system (XP Home), the fonts are "named" as follows: Albatros is a blank line; Austro-Hungarian is a line of about five or six dots; Fokker is "Fokk:" and Pfalz is "aL." Each is in the right position alphabetically in the overall font listing, thus fairly easy to find. When I type in a serial (say, in Times New Roman), and then highlight it and click on one of the fonts, the TNR version changes to the correct font...so far.

Strange that when you download the same file as I did, your Albatros file is named correctly, while mine drew a blank. Your others are nameless, but mine at least have a recognizable indicator. However, we appear to be at the 80% solution: we have the fonts, and they seem to be working all right.

Cheers,

Gary

Hi,

This might be platform related.

When the creator creates a font, he gives it the name, and that is saved ithin the font file.

I believe there are some issues with fonts created on a Mac not displaying correctly on a Windows machine. This may or may not be the problem.

There are 2 solutions (That I know of):

1. The creator checks that the font name in the database has been saved correctly, and modifies that if it hasn't, testing on Windows machines as well as Macs, Linux, etc.

2. A user imports the font into a font creator program and edits this himself. This option is generally frowned upon, and may breach copyright agreements, as well as upset Modelhound, who is obviously putting in a lot of time and effort on doing this great work.

As noted earlier, I tried "Fok. F 5125/18." The number came out correctly, except that the "18" was too big

I write:
The small 18 can be obtained by pressing the shift key while you type the number. The small F can be gotten by typing F without pressing the shift key. The V and I come with the upper and lower lines attached, and must be typed as upper case letters.

Mike,

Thanks for this guidance. One day I really must move beyond "Computers 101!"

Mike Modelhound:

Did you get my email?

I would really like to obtain your fonts.

How can I do this?
