It's done! DML 1/48 Fokker Dr.1

Here it is. As the title says, this it my first effort at a WWI aircraft and is the DML/Dragon 1/48 Fokker Dr.1. Kit was built pretty much OOB with just a few items added to the cockpit such as the map case and some gauges.
Oh, and the prop is a wooden one from Copper State Models with a photo-etch bosses and bits of .020" styrene rod used for bolt heads.

Paints used were a combination of Misterkit acrylics, Model Master enamel, and Windsor-Newton olive green artist's oil paint for the streaking. Decals are a combination of Eagle Strike and kit's.

Really nice build. Nice to see the DML one done too....figured everyone would be tearing into the Eduard ones.

What did you do for the stitching underneath?

Very nice model! I do like the streaking and I would be also interested how you did the stitching as it looks most convincing and all my efforts were rather less satisfying!

Thanks. The kit was a gift from a friend several years ago and I started it earlier this year. I had to let it sit dormant for a month or so to let the oil paint streaks dry. I'd like to build an Eduard Dr.1 some day but would do it in The Baron's red scheme. I don't want to deal with that streaking again!

The stitching was simplicity itself. I did it on a whim. Using a sewing needle in a pin vise, I first scribed a seam line down the center, using some Dymo labeling tape as a guide. Then I placed strips of masking tape on either side of the seam, to keep the width consistent, then just used the needle to scratch angled lines to represent the stitching. I think I drew the stitch lines in with pencil first, to get the spacing. I don't actually remember! A light brown watercolor wash made them show up a little better.

See my recent post for how I did the stitching. It was very quick and easy.
